new to lone wolf

I have several questions for you all.

I see the core book on this site; Flight from the Dark - Collectors Ed., do I need only that to play? Or do I need to get the original Lone Wolf RPG book with the green dude on the front.

How is this game played? Is it one player, solo style? Or can it be with a group as well; i'm a little confused about the whole premise of the game.

And what is the american dollar cost for the hardcover book?

It is a solo gamebook. All you need is the book.

The book is a story, in which you make choices, using numbered paragraphs.

Example, it will say:

You see a Bandit approaching with sword drawn.
If you want to leap out and attack, turn to paragraph 27.
If you want to hide in nearby bushes, turn to 123
If you want to approach him and talk to him, turn to 987

And so on.

Further books continue the story with you playing the same character through further adventures.

The RPG with the green dude, is not required to play the game books. If you want to play a tabletop RPG with multiple players, then that is the book for you.

The dollar cost can be shown simply by clicking the US flag on the front page of the website.

hey thanks for the reply and the information was just what i needed. is the table top rpg any good and will there be a new version of that?

The tabletop RPG is pretty good. It is a simplified version of d20/D&D. There are a couple of good adventures available for it.

There is a new version coming at some point in the future.

The plan is to get the collectors' editions of the books reprinted as paperbacks and get them into book stores in Europe and the US, then release a new 'multiplayer game book' (a basic RPG) that will make it into the book stores too. But that will take a while.

If you want to know more about the gamebooks, visit Project Aon. All of the LW gamebooks will be made available online for free one day. Currently, the first 18 books are there.

The version you see on Project Aon and the one Mongoose is publishing are slightly different. While PA publishes the original gamebooks that were first printed in the 80s and 90s, Mongoose is offering an updated version them, with revised text and bonus material.

It is said that the new version of the RPG will be close in its rules to the gamebooks.
