Ok i Just bought the pdf of legend for $1 and been thinking of doing a game kinda base of the new beowulf series on tv and wondering if beside the monster book and maybe vikings book any other book need?

and on viking book does it have cults, guilds and orders setup or do i have to make them myself?

The Vikings book contains one chapter on Viking Religion and Viking Magic, plus a useful bestiary of creatures from Scandinavian mythology. The Vikings of Legend book focuses on the "classic" viking period from the sack of Lindisfarne in 793 to the Battle of Stamford Bridge in 1066 (which settled the succession to Canute's North Sea empire and led directly to Norman victory at Hastings).

I haven't seen the Beowulf TV series, but keep in mind that although the events of Beowulf were recorded in the period between the 9th and 11th centuries they depict events from the Age of Migrations (5th century) where Beowulf was part of a broad Germanic heroic tradition that shared between Scandinavia, Denmark, Anglo-Saxon England and later Iceland. By tracing the links between Beowulf and the wider world of Germanic history and legend, it may be possible to weave a wider setting beyond the immediate story.

Here are a few starting points:

The Geats of Beowulf were the same folks as the Götar of Swedish history - who we now remember as the Goths.
The Scylding dynasty are the Skjöldung royal family of Denmark and Hrothgar is known in Old Norse sagas as Hróarr, who plays a role in the saga of the Danish hero Hrólf Kraki.
Indeed, it is believed that Hroðulf in Beowulf may actually be Hrólf Kraki just as Beowulf may appear in Hrólf Kraki's saga as Bödvar Bjarki (although this is disputed).

Beowulf is pretty good as a Dark Ages Fantasy series.

Yes, you can use Vikings of Legend and Legend to run a Beowulf campaign really easily.

PCs should use the Vikings of Legend character generation. They don't seem to use Shields much, but you can have whatever Combat Styles you prefer, Sword, Sword and Shield, Double Sword, Axe, Axe and Shield, Double Axe and so on.

Spells should be available to certain people only.

Monsters can come from the ones in Vikings of Legend, you can make your own ones up or get Monsters of Legend. Some of the mudborn need some changes, trolls have horns and love salt, for example, but I'd use a Cave Troll for these trolls.

You may also find some useful stuff in the Spells of Legend sourcebook that I've been compiling from contributions by many of the folks on this forum.

Here's the current daft in a couple of formats - it's still a work in progress and I urgently need to update the credits, but you might find something in the draft that you can use:
