We have just posted two new Traveller previews on our web site, for the forthcoming Reft Sector and Merchant Prince - expect to see the real things end of March/beginning of April!

Just make sure these get put up on Amazon, my nearest LGS is 54 miles away and doesn't like to stock Mongoose, period.

Plus it sounds to me like Reft Sector and Merch. Prince will combine nicely together.

Sweet!

P.S. Just a thought... Treebore, if you haven't already, maybe you can send a PM to Matt about your LGS - perhaps MGP can change their minds?

I doubt they could. This guy is convinced he stocks the "hot sellers" and doesn't want to mess with anything else. Mongoose isn't the only publisher that he doesn't stock, that I buy. So I figure he can go his happy way and I'll order from Amazon and get it delivered to my door.

Reminds me of a dealer I knew when I was in college... sort of. Guy was highly opinionated and full of himself but at least he stocked a good selection of games.

Anyway, moving back onto the preview of Merchant Prince. I like the careers I see. Some, like the merchant marine, I personally don't see myself using but there are some interesting others I could work into my homebrew game like the Junk Dealer and Royal Trader. Slaver would make a good NPC class too.

I have had much better luck pre-ordering directly from Mongoose rather than ordering from Amazon.

Just saying, Mongoose ALWAYS got to me first and when there were problems (like with the original HG), they took care of me!

Amazon, not so much.

I agree. While I may rework them if I ever use them to run a game, I will happily buy this and mess with it as I see fit. Though the Slaver career could be used by a player if she's trying to hide her past. From whatever might catch up with her...

Hopefully there'll be some new spacecraft options and toys too.

Amazon may be a little cheaper, but they will never beat us on service :)

As soon as you can cut a deal with my credit card company to give me 1% cash back reward certificates on your company store, I'm there!

:-)

Really, my budget is tight for gaming stuff, but my wife let's me use the "free money" Amazon gift certificates that my credit card gives me. But hey, I'm buying the stuff! That's gotta help!

I am certain that is true, but it has been over 5 years since Amazon has NOT resolved a problem to my satisfaction, and they saved me $17 on these two books alone, plus it was delivered to my door, with free shipping.

Considering the dozens of RPG books/products I buy each year, it would be financially stupid of me not to buy via Amazon.

Heck, the best example, recently is Warhammer 3E. I got it via Amazon for $63, plus free shipping!

Plus, late last year I used Amazon to catch up on my Traveller books, it was over a $100 order, AFTER their discount! Plus free shipping!

So until publishers decide to risk underselling retailers, Amazon will be my primary choice for buying stuff.

Continuing on with Merchant Prince, interesting how you summerized/represented a corporate archetype with their mission statement. While I'm somewhat in disagreement with your choice for the example slogan for a Greedy corporation (I probably would have went with the company mottos from the video game Space Colony for inspiration,) I do like what I am seeing for streamlined player-run corporations...
