New Playtest Pack V1.2

Summaries in the playtest report thread. Recommend that Vree and Centauri issues are managable for the ISA with the possible exception of the Liati/WS interaction.

Well the Demos is reduced in power (which I don't think anyone really
has a problem with now)

We get a new fun carrier at skirmish as a alternative (which helps with the low level fighter problem that was supposed to be a in built weakness like no carriers for Vorlons - but hey ho)

sooo all good really - does that help?

A new Admiral would have been nice.......

Agree re the Wolf pack - We get to have bigger squadrons than the Dilgar with the new rule - cos we need that?

well yes you can take a skirmish carrier but it means less vorchans etc. the main lack of fighters comes from not having them as standard on any ship smaller than battle apart from dedicated carriers.

Ah! So the Vorlons can have a carrier if we don't have a main gun, as we'll get less other vorlons... yes, now the logic is clear!

I do like how you said we can take a carrier (singular) but that it means less Vorchans. One less! One! Hardly a death knell for the super death squadron.

Point... none, just takin' up space. Hate the whole idea of the wolfpack rule, so won't use it locally.

As I mentioned I think its a good ship and nothing wrong with it - I'll probably use it :)

I just feel that giving the Glorious Republic it is a bit odd when other fleets also need such ships - but can't have them as its "a fleet weakness".

Any specialist ship taken usually reduces your "fighting" ships but many fleets just don't get the option......

Of course the other frequently trotted out argument is that all fleets will look the same which in my opinion is absolute rubbish - just look at the huge variety of Scouts across the present fleets - they are all very different.............as it should be.

Surely a skirmish carrier allows you to take more vorchans than if you took a raid level carrier?

true, but the raid level carrier is a fleet carrier and also comes with command. think IIRC its also tougher than 2 of the skirmish carrier.
also the amar was actually a ship back in 1e anyway, its just had a revamp and brought back out for 2e.

The Balavarin is a fantastic ship at Raid - versus the Amar it has Command, Fleet Carrier and a interceptor......and is hull 5 rather than hull 4 and has quite a bit of damage crew. The 2nd ed Raid carriers are a big step forward from 1st ed versions IMHO.

My objection is not to the Amar being included but that other options for other fleets are taboo..........

others include:

Pak- Scout/ Carrier?

Why would a Scavanger race not have some form of Scout? it may not be the most effective or battleworthy type of vessel but it would make sense? I recal MS saying they don't have one - but not why.

It all makes so much less sense when the "taboo" options are then allowed as generic options for everyone as Space Station modules.

ie you can't have all races having access to all traits as that makes them all the same - oh but you can have a generic space station that does have it rather than a ship designed in the style of the race in question.

Somewhat illogical?

Most things made it in, I think. The hunting pack is less scary, pretty much everything else followed playtest comments. Oh, and we have put some surprises in there too :)

I'm really hoping for a compromise w/ the WS beam range. 10 is a bit too short. I've never really experienced significant problems with it being too long in the past.

I am still very glad the book is on track though. Great job!
