New Models and Second ed

ok then, this is just a thought. Now then, we have recently seen several new models come out, I can't see every single one of them going in S+P, but could be wrong, but what is the point, I think, personally, they should have them all designed, but released much closer to the run up to second ed to improve interest, and get people clamouring for the new book to get the stats for these new ships. It's pretty basic marketing principle really. they should us ethe time NOW, to release the arm ships that haven't come out, so G'Vrahn, Ka'Bin'Tak, Brivoki, Firraptor, re sculpted Drakh mo-Ship.
Seems a pretty strange business decision? Piss off those people awaiting for uncast ships, while releaseing brand new unstatted ones?!
This is not an attack on mongoose, it is me genuinely puzzled by the decision, I mean, heck, I'll be buying the new Brakiri flying wang ;-)

Gives you something to play for the next 6 months? There are tournaments planned for this year and no stated release for 2nd ed as yet.

Will be interested to see if the new ships are allowed or not.

We get to play with them from next week I'm happy, my fleets can potentially use all 3 of them if I like the stats
I would imagine they are allowed in Mongoose tourneys, since other S&P ships (eg. Eyehawk) are. So no reason for other tourneys to exclude them.

Last time I checked 99.99%+ ACTA players(roughly) are still playing on current edition and not V2 :lol:

Of course if you happen to be playtester for V2 then current ed stats probably don't mean a damn to you but was it 10 players + their gaming groups who playtest it? Pretty small numbers...

Rest will probably appreciate getting to try out new toys now rather than august.

for your info hiff I have just suggested that the ships with stats but no models be prioritised. wether anything will come from this we will see.
considering we havent even finalised stats for these new ships in 2e though is IMO a mistake to release them for 1e.

OTOH if you release all the goodies(Pak'ma'ra, delta V2, technomage, all the new brakiri's coming up, what else...) you could cause "new product overload" for customers as well...Releasing more stuff than they can buy/paint causing just frustration.

I don't particulary enjoy if EVERYTHING comes in one big slump. a) I don't have money which means I will likely be buying some of the released stuff in 6 months ahead... b) I don't have time to paint which means I will be painting some of the stuff 6 months ahead and meanwhile playing with unpainted ones...

This in addition to trying to cope with changes in V2 to old fleets...

well supposedly there is something like 40 ships being released this year. i guess this includes the armageddon and drakh ones.
there are new ships in almost every fleet list though IIRC.

That new brakiri hull is UGLY! Too different from the traditional designs of the fleet.

You think? I always found them a bit eclectic, there is no commonality between the Avioki, Ikorta, Halik really
Which is kind of the point I imagine, with their corporations
