That's the thing, isn't it?
It's hard to look at the near future without specifically looking at SpaceX or using names and technologies currently under development (Blue Origin, Rocket Lab, maybe Stokes, and then the dozens of once-launched, half-built, mostly exploded, and animation-only companies out there - Notice I didn't mention Boing or LockMart though I still own shares in both - well the F35 line is still going strong...)
But the thing needs to have a shelf-life of more than a few years, and I was looking at the 2033 window as a possible Mars race, which could be right and it could be wrong, but either way, it's less than a decade away.
A decade ago, we'd be talking about all these asteroid mining companies and we see how that went... so it is difficult to make predictions, especially about the future... cloudy, it is.
