for a 3 raid point fleet, i would personally be tempted to take 2 Ashinta escorts and a teshlan. The Ashinta has battle level (for a minbari) damage, all round twin linked fire and decent maneuvreability, the Teshlan is more fragile, but gains a beam with similar maneuvreability. However if your opponent is interceptor light, the Tigara is quite a mean puncher

Fully agree with Hiffano on this one! Don't bother with a couple of Torothas for initiative sinks, they always seem to get spotted and then killed by a strong wind! :(
So, a simple formula... 2 x Ashinata as your base, then depending on whom your fighting, just add a Teshlan or a Tigara...Easy!

Yeah, Minbari don't really need initiative sinks usually. Ashinta is nice, though I prefer Leshath, you can never have too many Leshath! CAF or scouting makes up for lack of TL, and the bonus is just great for killing enemy scouts. 3x Leshath would be my fleet. "You've got stealth how high??!?!?!"

You sooo sneaky!!! 8)

"Oh yeah Stealth - nice idea, bit out dated but quaint" says the Gaim Queen as the first round of emines is launched

I know you've got a 5pt and a 3 pt engagement, but who are you actually playing against? So far you've been getting good 'general tips' about the bone headed ones, but if you let us know whom your facing, then we could perhaps give you some more specific ideas... :)

"You think we were stupid enough to stay on the battlefield?" replies Alyt Burger from 10AUs away.

I think thats prob still in range of the super new advanced Gaim ship that comes out due to their victory in the ECW...................

nice ideas.

My enemy's will surly be:

Crusade Earth
Centauri
Minbari
Narn or Brakiri
Drazi

So that's it.

What do you think about the minbari skirmish choise the Torotha ?
Your answers were not very positiv about it, why ?

I think it's very fragile but has much firepower for raid. And i now got 6 models of it which i want to use. So the question is when, how and against who i can use the Torotha well ?

Do anyone knows another ACTA forum more focused on Minbari ?

The Torotha is reasonable now, not great. The main problem is the range of 6" on the main weapon. You'll have to get close to use it, and will likely be dead before getting in range.

IF you can start in hyperspace and drop a group of torothas on top of an enemy then they can be quite nasty. As mentioned though, once seen they die easily. In low level engagements they might do ok, but other races skirmish choices are generally a bit meaner

Unfortunately, the Skirmish ships of the other races you mentioned, especially the Drazi, Narn and Centauri, are far superior to the humble Torotha...
The only time in a campaign that i've needed the Torotha has been in the initial stages, when your opponents will normally opt for a -1 to -3 modifier to the scenario, and you end up playing two or three battles at Skirmish level... Then, you really need a Torotha or two to make sure you can field a force with a little more flexibility and not rely on having to field a Raid ship for every two (or more, if your against twofers) of your opponents ships!

Least you had a Skirmish choice :)

seem to remember they did OK but then you were also fighting all fleets that could have a better chance against stealth - Shadows (Scouts and +1) and Vorlons (+1) and Narn emines. :)

Against the Shadows you can use the Torothas as initiative sinks, but thats about all they're good for...
Of course, as Hiffano as already stated, throw Hyperspace into the mix, and then the Torotha can become quite a handy 'Jump Ambush' ship in lower PL games, but in medium to high PL encounters, you're better off using Tigara's for this role... 8)

Whilst it is very fragile (if you break its stealth) as it is hull 4 it does have good guns.

its front arc (with turret) can throw out - 4 AD AP, DD+ Precise and 8 dice minibeam............not something to be ignored

 - of course if they twinlinked they would be awesome and you woudl use them all the time - not that you need the twin linked roll half the time!!! :)

I know it is rather aesthetically monotone, but the Minbari fleets I used to win my lgs's last leauge were all based on Tinashi/Ashinta combinations.

3 Point raid: I would go with 3 Ashintas (absolutely no fear of fighters, can probably even deal w/ gaim) and with 6 AD 18" TL MBs your lack of initive sinks will be somewhat abated.

5 Point raid: 2 Tinashi's (squadroned) and an Ashinta or 1 Tinahi and 3 Ashintas.

5 Point Battle: 3 Tinashis squadroned and 4 Ashintas

Funny!

The Tinashi hull was supposed to be old, but I too feel like it is one of the best stats we have (for the price).

Yep, Tinashi's rule all. Just a shame that the older ships (the Tinashi, Ashinata, Neshatan) get TL mini-beams as their secondary, but the modern ships (Leshath, Sharlins etc...) lose the Twin-Link!
Perhaps the merciful Minbari ( :!: ) thought that they should take it easy on the other races...
