NavWar WWI and WWII fleet packs - whats in 'em?

Mongoose
this is a fairly self explanatory post, as I'll be placing a Navwar oprder next week so I can make at least 5 Raid points of all the fleets in the books (at the moment I just have Russians and Japanese) and I am wondering what is in the Navwar fleets (as I am thinking of getting some). I'd also like to know what is in the WWI fleets as I am almost certain to pick a couple of them up as well.
And does anyone know the breakdown of the Battle of Matapan pack?

I pulled this off of their website. Very Nice

BATTLE OF MATAPAN - March 1941
Code - 3CBP02
£25.00
Qty
Description - Contains all the surface ships of the Italian and British Battle fleets taking part on 27th and 28th March 1941. - 4 Battleships, an Aircraft Carrier, 6 Heavy Cruisers, 6 Light Cruisers and 30 Destroyers.

Everything else is their too.

Nasvwar doesn't break down the £9.00 fleet packs beyond saying they contain 6 capital ships, 4 cruisers and 8 destroyers. I'm under the impression the contents of these packs are fixed (for some reason I am certain the British early war contains the Courageous) and I'd like to know what they contain, as I then may order some fleet packs and some support ships ie aircraft carriers as individuals.

Sorry Old Son. I misunderstood, here's a wiki article link that has what ships were there. Well Mostly.....

The contents of each pack is break down in a sheet that comes inside the packs.

So what you advocate here is ......

If you want to know whats in the packs before you order them, you have to buy them first to get the break down sheet

:?

Yep, that's about it.

When I bought some NAVWAR packs at a local store I was lucky that the shop owner had that sheet available to look and choose before buy... he got it from some packs he bought for himself, and made the break down sheet available to customers.

This happen some time ago, I don't know if things changed now... at least the most recent online catalog don't give any detailed breakdown of the packs.

I have that sheet stored somewhere... where?... hum... I can try to look it up if you want it.

If you read up a few posts, you'll see links to the fleet pack contents, posted in February by Ostmann.

You are absolutely right!

I've missed that.
I've browsed the lists and they are correct, at least they checkup (by memory) with the packs I and some friends of mine have.

Hope the quality of the NAVWAR models increased by now... they were anything but consistent in the mold quality.

Nope they are still crap had a look at some at Salute on Saturday. Found a stand selling CinC and decided to stick with GHQ and supplement them with the CinC model seen at the show. Bought em all including 3 Hoods. Just picked em up and didn't check what I had. Still will sell well painted up on ebay. And only 6 quid for Yamato compared to a tenner for GHQ's offering.

So, everything is still the same... NAVWAR cheap, but crappy.

I was amazed when people started saying that the A&A War at Sea was very bad compared with the «excel» NAVWAR... when I know is the very oposite...

Oh well...

I found the quality of my Navwar models great, considering the scale and price - I didn't have a single problem with flash in 2 fleet packs and a great many additional ships bought with them.

At the end of the day you get what you pay for. Yes Navwar are cheap but they look cheap. Ok not a lot of flash these days but they are still very crude replicas of their real life counterparts I have a fleet or 2 of their early stuff and a couple of new ships too and they are no different. Still for someone wanting to start from scratch and have a couple of fleets cheaply they are ok. Me personally though I have moved to slightly larger 1/2400 now and the choice is great and quility far superior to navwars offering. Downside is cost though as they are more expensive. But with Naval games you can start small and build big over a long period of time so the cost shouldn't really be an issue

From my own perspective, having played with 1/1200, 1/2400 and 1/3000 I've found that, whilst the detail in the different scales is readily apparent on close inspection, once the ships are down on the playing surface therei sn't much to tell between them (at least not between 2400 and 3000)

I also have my ships out on display in cabinets when not in play use so I like the extra detail. But yes I agree from 4' you can't really see the extra detail anyway. One thing I noticed when I inspected my new CinC minis I purchased from Salute on Saturday is mth lack of masts and aircraft. Aircraft and catapults are not a problem as you always get spares in your GHQ minis but what about masts does anyone know if GHQ sell these items seperate as replacement accessories as I can't find them on their website.

I use the Navwar 1/3000th I love them, just right for VAS, My Italian fleet was basicly a fleet pack from Navwar, for £9 was a bargin

I have posted the fleet contents on the forum (POI has kindly put the link in this thread - Thanks)

Thanks
