My Pirate Isles campaign

Hi I'm new to these boards but not to the Conan RPG, just wanted to say hi and share some of the fun we've been having with this great Mongoose line.

I recently picked up the Pirate Isles supplement and my players have all been loving it! These photos are from a recent night of gaming.

In this scenario a large War Galley from Argos is closing in on a group of Cimmerian and Barachan Pirates. The Cimmerian pirates are trying to race off, stranding a smaller group of Barachan pirates with most of the loots and an important hostage.



This shot shows the Argossian vessel closing in on the cove:

Here we see a close up of the Cimmerian warship, there were a few Barachan pirates who also managed to get onboard.

And a close up of the stranded pirates, note the female hostage bound to the mast.

The large War Galley is from Old Glory miiatures: http://www.oldgloryminiatures.com/proddetail.asp?prod=AS-03

The Drakkar pirate ship, full of Cimmerians, is a modified plastic model.


And the stranded longship I made using balsa wood, I am very happy with the results so I will attempt to model a few ships from the Pirate Isles.

They're really impressive and look very professional. Photographs like this really tempt me to use minatures far more in roleplaying games. Perhaps I've been wrong in just using them for wargames.

Where did you get the models from? Some of them look lovely, but I'm only really aware of Games Workshops creations, which are hardly suitable for Conan.

Most of these models are Reapers (the Cimmerians), but there are also some older Ral Partha and Grenedier miniatures mixed in.
