My LAMI troopers

BuShips

Cosmic Mongoose
Just landed reinforcements from the Fleet Battlestation Ticonderoga... er not really.

I finally have the first third of my too-long boxed Light Armour Troopers nearly finished. It's been several days progressing, but this first "batch" of LAMI troops is nearly ready fot the gaming table. About all I need to do is to add some rank insignia and then I can start the second batch of forty models. When I finish I hope to field 120 "movie" troopers to guard my various forts and MI installations, freeing up my Power Suit troopers for some offensive probes. The LAMI troops are basically a two-tone grey with black trim, varying from the traditional green drab colors. These should be close to the film version uniforms. Besides, I didn't want to see these in green like my Power Armor. See, if you survive wearing the grey you might get promoted to green pigment. That is, if you don't die first wearing red pigment.

Note that the true finish of the models is closer to the first photo, as the close-in photo doesn't seem to show the contrast between the two shades of grey. Stupid digital cameras.

The bottom pic also has them looking more shiney than they really are as well (and I mean 'shiney', not "Firefly shiney", heh). My printer has been down for a week and today the parts showed up, so I might do up some helmet insignia decals this weekend and call them finished. Then it's back to the next two boxes of metal and the Krylon primer. If anyone ever asks me what color of grey these models are painted in, I'll answer "Fascist Grey".

Here are two additional shots that were requested as close ups over at TMP (close shots are where I get nervous, lol). The first is with indoor lighting. On the second I grabbed a table lamp to throw a different light source on them.

Lookin good there Bu! Now where's the medic and ammo pack dudette?

Well, I did make up some medic helmet decals for several of the regular troopers to don, but so far I haven't made any model conversions. As far as ammo supply, are you mentioning a modded figure carrying bandoliers of reloads? Since I didn't see a rule for one in the Klendathu Book I'd say so far no, I don't have a "walking Chinese fireworks display".

Looking good! (as I said on TMP)

So did you do a nice little TO&E graphic for the LAMI like you did for your Exosuit company? I really liked that quite a bit. I want to do something similar for my collection but with small black silhouette profiles of the basic troop types.

Nope. I like your idea of using silhouettes though. What I've done is to follow the Army Book force structure that says three squads per platoon and four platoons per company. The Klendathu Book allows for 10-man squads and with twenty Light Armour Trooper models per box that will work nicely. Six boxes gives me four platoons for a decent company sized unit. I've decided to call them Charlie Company.

With 6 boxes that's a lot of embedded reporters. :D

So if you've got 12 full squads of 10, that uses up all the figures in the 6 boxes. Are you going to get a 7th box so you can field full squads with 8 NCO's, 4 LT's, and a Captain? That's 13 figures with 7 left. With 7 boxes that could be the 7 snipers that you could use individually instead of in the squads. Well, at least that is how we use the LAMI snipers courtesy of Hiromoon's great unit cards. Of course then this can happen:

That sniper graduated at the bottom of his class.

So you really need just 1 more box and you can have it all..

Don't forget all those emplaced weapon platforms fro the LAMI that you can buy as bits.

The silhouette profile idea I actually got from WWII TO&E's I've seen. Problem is I'd have to sit down and make my own side view black images for each troop type in the game and then import them into something like Visio. It would look cool though if I only had the time.

Yuppers, I really should go with another box, lol. As far as those seven extra troopers they get used with no problem as basic squad is 7+ 1 Sgt. I added two to fit the box of 20 but they allow up to 12 troopers besides the NCOs and officers. For now, I've got a few troopers upgraded to NCO status and one as an Lt. I'll probably work up something "special" for my Captain figure. As far as the "Embeds", it's not too bad. Two Platoons have two reporters and two have one attached. In the mass of metal they do get lost in the clutter, heh. Besides, their bodies make real good rifle rests for the snipers. I also like your Warrior Bugs. Good job.

Thanks, guys. The beige bugs in my overall album are actually a mix. The better looking tan glossy ones aren't mine, but I'll pass along the compliments. Mine are black with scarlet diamond or lozenge patterns on the body, tan with scarlet patterns, and the Tiger Warriors. What I don't make up in quality, I make up in quantity.

BuShips, I misunderstood and thought all your squads were going to be 10 men. Don't let me stop you from getting a 7th box.. but you're right, six boxes are fine with squads of 8. I currently use squads of 8 myself. Later I may add some prepaints (or repaints of prepaints) to bulk up what I've got painted.
