My Attempt at a Spanish Navy

Achiles

Mongoose
I have been working on a Spanish Fleet List for VaS for a while now. I've tried to make it as historically accurate as possible using mostly internet sources in spanish and english but also a couple of books on the subject. It is now finished except for a fleet bonus and penalty to add some flavor. Also I have no skill at photoshop and I coulnd't find outlines for a alot of the ships so some counters need to be made. I want to post my fleet list here but I'm not sure how to post the Word and Excel files for it.

Interesting One Question how large was the Fleet? And How was the technical Standart? Because Spain had a Long History with nautic warfare.

At its peek the fleet consisted of 2 dreadnoughts, 2 heavy cruisers, 5 light cruisers, 19 destroyers and 12 submarines. Technically it was a modern fleet. Most of the ship's were in a good state. In a way the defeat in 1898 led to the spanish fleet being cleared out of most of the junk. The two canarias class heavy cruisers and 3 cervera class light cruisers were excellent ships based on british designs. This is also true of the 12 Churruca class destroyers. The Alsedo destroyers and the four old italian deatroyers that the nationalists bought were dated by the civil war. As were the Mendez Nunez and Navarra light cruisers, even after being refitted. The submarines were largely coastal boats but good designs with a little age on them. The two dreadnoughts were a little odd. They were the smallest dreadnoughts ever built. They were an innovative design but they were severly dated by the civil war. Unfortunately both dreadnoughts, 1 heavy cruiser and a number of other ships were lost in the civil war.

Duck-billed Mongoose is going to post the fleet for me pretty soon so you can get a look at it.

Does that mean you don't want me to post it on my site now? I was waiting to hear back from the email I sent you earlier this week after you sent me copies of your files.

Or did u mean me in your post?

I'm feeling poorly and am presently easily confused :D

The fleet is up. http://www.btinternet.com/~david.manley/naval/VAS/Spain.pdf

Please let me know what you guys think.

Achilles, the link you posted seems to be death. Could you publish it in any other way? i was thinking to buy the VAS rulebook only to play the naval battles of the spanish civil war so i'm really interested...

Got it! I like it, but i miss stats for the gunboats (the Dato made a somehow impressive contribution to the rebel's efforts, even surviving confrontation with a dreadnaught!) and the Cant-Z planes, which seem to have been the most widely used naval bombers in the rebel side (i'm not sure but i think the katiuskas were the chosen ones for that role in the government forces)
