MRQ Wiki Question...

Ok, so let's see...

I've got the domain and hosting configured, I've installed MediaWiki (the same software that Wikipedia uses), and I'm migrating the content now. The migration is being a pain because there are some differences in Wiki syntax between MediaWiki and PBWiki.

Hopefully I'll have it done in a few days.

This may help in the conversion a little http://diberri.dyndns.org/wikipedia/html2wiki/

If you want any help let me know I have experience converting many types of data to Mediawiki. I helped migrate many years of internal web pages, words docks, pdfs, etc to mediawiki for the company I work for.

Ok, I'm being dumb.

There's no reason *I* have to migrate all the content single-handedly. The software is installed, the server is running, there's no reason I can't have all of you help me.

The new site is at: http://www.justanotherwebsite.net/mrqwiki

Feel free to sign up for an account and help moving the stuff over from the new one to the old one. I'm tempted to subdomain it to mrqwiki.justanotherwebsite.net; I'll probably do that before it's officially live.

But there it is. As soon as all the data is over I can release the wiki on PBWiki.com.

Thanks in advance for the help.
Tim.

Hope you don't mind jumped on and started editing and fixing some lay out issues

Ran into one issue, it appear that Media Wiki will not currently allow for .doc extension uploads. This I believe can be changed.

Hey, good work guys! That's looking great already. Even looks like a Wiki-type wiki!

I've got a couple of links out there on the intarwebs to the old one, so I'll get 'em updated.

Nice one,

I thought I fixed that. I know I fixed PDFs. I'll do that tonight. Sorry, my bad.

But yeah, feel free to jump in and move content or what have you.

Tim.

The wiki-software doesn't seem to accept uploads in file-types like doc, rar, rtf ... That makes the use of the original srd-files difficult. We could just make a link to the documents on the mongoose-website or we could steal (or by pure chance type an exact copy of) a wiki-conversion from another website (e.g. metamythos.net).

Maybe it would be a good idea to make a download page on the wiki, where all the pdfs, sheets ... are listed. That way you would only find text and pictures in the other sections and the downloads aren't distributed over so many pages. Before making such a big change to the structure of the page, I wanted to ask what you think about it. In my opinion it would be better structured.

If you will note two posts above that was already mentioned; I just haven't had a chance to fix it.

Of course, it was my goal to eventually not have the SRDs up there as file downloads but as wiki-fied text.

I'll have the wiki fixed to allow those uploads... sometime, heh. And eventually I'll convert them, too.

*blink, blink*

And release the three products I've got waiting for layout. And finish off my distance-learning degree. And put in enough overtime to finish all my projects at work. Oh, and spend time with my wife and son, too. Eventually I want to actually game some, too. :) :) :)

Nice work. It really looks like a Wiki now.

How are you planning to organize the monster srd? All in 1 page may be a little too much.

Ok, I fixed DOC, RTF, and TIF.

Thanks again for all your help, it would have taken forever to move it over by myself.

Holy crap! The SRD pages look AWESOME.

Is it... done? It looks to me that all the content is moved over... is that so? Or am I missing something?
