Mouretsu Pirates: Traveller Campaign?

Hopeless

Mouretsu Pirates

My reason for this thread is to gauge your Traveller knowledge especially regarding the spaceships used since it seemed a mite more tech orientated than I'd have expected.

Take a look and reply here with your thoughts on this series, whether good or bad my interest lies in what era this could be run under, can some of it play fine under T2300 or Imperium era?

Comparing the ships with whats been released or you've designed would you say they're Traveller possible or not?

Oh and comment on the series if you want as I wondered what with the pirate campaign being established how they fare when compared even if both have entirely different backdrops...

And one is or was more lighter entertainment than the usual piracy really should be called privateering to be honest!

The relatively limited travel in 2300 would make piracy/privateering a very dangerous task. There are just too few places to run.

Well, in Mouretsu, the Pirates were more Entertainers then anything else. 'Attacking' Cruise Ships and putting on a show for the rich and privileged.

More of a Starship Troupers, then?

If they have a good agent, its all good. That's one *expensive* act, though. Ships are not cheap to run.

Well. The ships seems mostly to be old ones so mortages are already paid presumably. Originally they started as additional forces against the Imperium during independence war.

But then again targets seems to be rich and wealthy so guess they can afford to pay for amusement ;)

(weird thing that. Pirates being more of hired performances...)

So you fly around space in fast armed ships.

Act like pirates all the time without fear of being caught.

Launch raids on rich liners that have told you where they would be.

Run boarding assualts that cost you nothing more than a few blank rounds or smoke grenades, no one shoots at you and you have lots of wealthy people cheering you on as you go.

Its legal.

You get paid for it.

The only problem I see here is the waiting list to get recruited by these guys would be huge in Traveller
