For Classic Traveller, the term Books has a special meaning, presenting additional rules on specific subjects, expanding on Traveller's basic concepts. Books run 48 to 56 pages and may be used independently or together, but all require the basic rules sets.

I’m glad you included the table of contents. I already preordered but people on the fence want to know what is in it.

It looks really good. Just as I remember the old books. Not sure they were very playable around a table but I loved them.

I loved the new book smell of the old books when I got them... or is it just me.

(okay, so I'll be sniffing Pirates - don't ask, don't tell.)

I really want it, but it's also really hard to justify the postage to Australia unless I can afford another physical item.

I have one complaint.

Book 9 needs to be followed by a Book 10 to keep an even number :)

Let's see . . .
  • Rogues
  • Belters/Scavengers
  • Nobles (Gentry/Hunter; Local-World Noble; Honor Noble; Bureaucrat/Diplomat & Rank-Noble; Legacy/Landed & High Noble)
  • "Other" - wide scope
  • Flyer (Mercenary, Part II)
  • Sailor (Mercenary, Part III)
  • Scientist / Doctor (Lab Technician/Researcher/Professor | Medic/Physician/Surgeon)
  • Barbarians (Low Tech Colonists and backgrounds, et al)

The three that I think could be stretched to full core rulebooks are:

Ministry of Justice - cover law enforcement and the other side of the fence...

Nobles - if GT could do a Nobles book I'm pretty sure a CT version could be done.

Starport Authority - loads of potential for this one

The Other career has always been a bit nebulous. Maybe an expanded book that includes Advanced generation for the Other career would also define the career a bit.

Or, is that the appeal of the career? It's a catch-all, can be a lot of things depending on the skills obtained. I've always figured an Other character by their skills.

The way I do CT Other is to let the player look through the list of patrons and random NPC encounters for a job description they like.

They get a free level 1 skill in a signature skill and two skills per term. Term 4 they get another 1 skill in a signature skill of their choosing.

Note the signature skill can not be JoT, but it may be a skill only available to a different career.

Another option is to front load college - level 2 in a skill of your choice then join Other as above, but it costs you a mustering out roll.

Flyers and Sailors were given advanced generation in issues of Pegasus, IIRC.
