I said if you win init. but if you really want some init sinks take 9 ka'tans and 2 sho'kov torpedo cutters. that means you are reduced to a mere 36beam dice.

Again leaves out possibility of centauri(or other enemy) moving so that first ships you move can't boresight anyway. Easy enough in first turn with their 20" ranges(24" distance between fleet, deploy more than 4" away and with some cheap ship all stop for example. If he comes ahead they will be in range to battle lasers anyway. If not keep all stopping. Sooner or later he has to come forward giving you easy initial salvo of battle laser fire).

Or simply have ship out of main bulk of your fleet.

Pretty poor play of opponent if he allows narn bat team to get boresight for every ship.

Not to mention using terrain. I've played a game against the Narn Bat team where they failed to get a boresight for the first three turns and lost three ships in return! (and no, there wasn't anything he could do about it either)

Wow...this argument again...

If Centarui win initiative one ship doesn't boresight

If the Centauri have Corvans, lose one ship per (might be sho'kovs, but that's removing 4 AD a beam per 2 and not getting a reroll out of it)

Spread out a bit Mr Centauri, as the Ka'Tan must all turn directly towards their target, you will likely get the back side of the squad farily quickly. Much more quickly than he will on you certainly.

Grab a free maximus or two on the way by to those corvans. Ka'tans can't take much damage.

sigh...

Not saying the bat squad isn't lethal...or even maybe too lethal, but its not the beam dice that are killing you Centauri, its the beam arc and range. You move forward pick the most important ships and destroy them. Is it unbeatable, no...is it any fun to play against...not really.

You have the same issue that the Minbari used to have. The moves of the other player for the first two to three turns are irrelevant (well maybe maneuver to shield has an impact). No one wants to play a game to feel irrelevant and very few fun games have been made on the principle of 'charge that machine gun nest, if you live, do something."
