More Cosplay Help...

Mongoose
Ok, now comes some more decisions...

Patches - 3 inch diameter, one on each arm below the shoulder, one one the hat where the bullseye or leave as is or empty?

Note the BSG uniform has several decals - one one on each collar and a winged badge on the breast pocket. Keep them? Substitute them with real decals? Add the ones from Star Wars?

Gun - blaster a la Han Solo/Imperial Officer or futuristic sidearm or replica of real handgun (appropiately painted orange barrel).

Holster - tight clipped onto belt or sling?

Reminder from the original post...

I have opted to do an Imperial Navy Uniform as part of a Cosplay event that I will be participating in.

I have settled that the uniform resembles that of the Battlestar Galactica uniform.

Save that it will be black with different markings - Yellow Starbursts on the shoulders and blank in the front.

Should one include a side arm? And, if so what type. I also opted for the Star Wars Imperial Officer cap.

And, do you think reflective raybands is too much...

The raybands are too not Sci-Fi.

Something sleeker and more likely to be used for data visualization.

One of my players/actors just happened on some really good ideas for traveller costume/cosplay. I plan to leverage these for my fan film:

I'd look at Space: Above and Beyond for Imperial Marine ideas. The Imperial Marines trace their lineage back to Earth IMTU. Obviously the uniforms will have evolved, but the Dress Uniforms will retain elements of the root uniforms (As they do now.).

So, per my earlier reply-
I ordered one of the Youstars jacket from eBay for one of the actors in the fan film I'm working on, here it is on him:

We're going to dress it a little more, some insignia and patches and stuff.

Nice.

Some simple trim (? - not a fashion expert) hot clued or ironed or even sewn on ala the Galactica uniform might make for an easy dressing up...

Might be able to add some neat lighted addons using the LEDs/batteries of simple kids toys/candy, as well.

If I recall, the original uniform colors for the navy are black with gold trim, so yeah- I was thinking about having the wife cover sew some piping in to cover the existing seams so it can reflect that color scheme.

The collar on the thing is perfect for rank/division pins
And making epaulets would be childs play.

youstarx.com has lots more really cool stuff appropriate for traveller costuming/cosplay. I'm about to put in my second order :)

'Piping' - that's what I meant.

The wrist cuffs could probably also use some kind of treatment (ribbon?).

Whatever you do, hoping you'll posts some pics. (Always good for online game props!)

I can do better than that very soon- I've got production stills, props, and pre-viz sequences "in the can". We're entering a trailer in a local film competition next week.

I want to make sure I've got product that doesn't suck before introducing it to the Traveller community.

As for the sunglasses idea, I think the ones worn by Major Kusanagi in Ghost in the Shell would look hi-tech enough, not sure where you could get a pair, but theyre modern enough to not be too hard to find.

Picture (couldnt find a good one from the actual anime that was not NSFW);
