Well I know it was on TV in florida waaaaay back in the early 90s...and I'm pretty dang sure that was a repeat lol.

Also seen it on TV in the UK...last year...(again repeat)

Plus I'm pretty sure it didn't originate in Europe or America. It is pretty much known around the world.

Me thinks it is time to poke your head out from under that rock and google it. :lol:

based on anicent chinese myths it was a japanese programme with near myth status in the far east and because the english dubbing was done by a feller who was bacially making it up as he whent its a cult in the english speaking world too.

their is going to be a new edition of monkey hitting the TV screen from japan screening in england sometime late this year early indications is it is looking good with record number of viewers tuning in 8) in japan.

monkey is based on the book journey to the west which is anicent and tells many tales of some spirits lead by the great warrior monkey king bringing back the scrolls from india with buddias teaching so to save china from themselves but the books are very funny as the crew get into all sorts of scraps and misadventures never really getting their but never giving up the quest.

I think this may be the Official Website for the show. But it's useless to you really if you don't understand the Asian text. Though has a very interesting Flash animation of Monkey on his cloud flying over a the landscape of China.

As you can see, it does look awful lot like the old series, right down to the almost exact same costumes. Though new Monkey is now sporting some blonde hair.

These appaer to be clips taken from two different movies. One movie looks almost as old as the first BBC series itself. It follows the original 'Journey To The West' very closely, though the speical effects are a bit dated now.

The second set of clips, one or two of which go for about half a hour seem alot more poilshed, better much better speical effects Watch for the cloud. But the fighting is abit shite, compared to Masaaki Sakai's combat moves and there is a overwelming sence of queerness about it all. These guys have the most ridiculous set of mutton chops so far.

None of the new Monkey's growl quite the same way Masaaki Sakai did.

Okay.

After numerous delays, the most recent six months of which have been nothing but my own fault, I think we've finally gotten somewhere on this

Having said that, said delays have actually been rather fortuitous as they've allowed us to have a rethink on a few things.

There will *finally* be a preview of chapter one of the JTTW RPG book going up very shortly on it's very own shiny new website. Before that I just have to get it into a fit state so I can throw it past Wuxia and co to make sure they're happy and that I haven't completely mishandled the entire thing

Fingers tightly crossed that no more minor disasters get in the way of this...
