Mongoose Traveller Stats Are Too Powerful

The fact is it seems most playtesters seem to be happy with the status quo when it comes to the mechanics, so this is turning into so much hot air. :)

Count how many people are posting here in this thread...in this forum. It's the same names over and over.

Given the sample group of the few who have made their opinion known here, I'd say making a statement about "what most playtesters" want is a stretch at best. It's an even longer stretch to say what most Traveller gamers who will by MGT will want.

I guess, then, the onus is on you to prove that the broad market opinion outside these boards equates to your own.

We all have opinions on what should be in or out of the game - we wouldn't be here if we didn't. And we all have pet peeves, without always being able to persuade the powers that be to move along with us.

As in any game environment, however, there comes a point where you have to accept the rules laid down on the table, and just play with 'em, because a (near) consensus has been reached and circular arguments are no fun for anybody.

No, not really. I'm really as tired of debating this as the couple here who have posted against hearing it.

I've pretty much decided that I won't buy MGT, so, in the long run, it really doesn't matter to me which way MGT goes.

The reasons I've posted is that: (1) I believe what I state is true; (2) That I'd actually like to see a "perfect" Traveller system, and I thought MGT had a chance to be that system.

I've always felt that buyers will appreciate and gravitate towards "quality" over "good enough".

It's like a computer game. There are those that are fun, that you play and forget. And then...there's the games...the legends...that went the extra mile and provided a superior quality experience.

My input is guided by the preference that Mongoose turn out a superior quality game--one that is better than any other edition that has come before it. One that people will say, "Yeah, that Mongoose Traveller game....what a damn fine game that is."

It sounds to me that the few people posting here have acknowledged what I've had to say but are content with a game that is "good enough".

So be it.

Tell you what. You guys "win". I'll drop it.

Well, that would be a shame, because you have made some good contributions to the game's development on this forum.

You admit to being tired, and I think that's the rub of it, to be honest. Try just putting the debate on the back-burner for a while, take a break, and maybe have a look at another aspect of the game, that you may be interested in discussing instead? That would be my suggestion, anyhoo.

Either way, good luck with your future gaming choices!
