Mongoose Licensed Products

Mage

Mongoose
I noticed that there are many Mongoose licenses, including:
Runequest
D20
Babylon 5
Judge Dredd
Conan
Starship Troopers
Slaine
Lone Wolf
Lankmar
Elric
Hawkmoon
Paranoia
Armageddon
Jeremiah

That is a lot. I wonder how mongoose can run a business, and pay for all these licenses. I mean, there seem so many, it would only make sense to me from a business point of view to drop some after they become non-proiftable.

I can only wonder what may eventually get dropped or added in the future, and pray that the former will not happen, but it is something to ponder on.

Well they only need to be dropped for financial reasons once the licence lapses, if it isn't lapsing there is no cost to keep it usually.

I know that, but I mean, eventually it will become non or low profit. I suppose that is the time to reformat the license (minis game), drop it, or make a new edition.

You have to admit though that it is quite a few liecenses. Hope they don't go belly up like Decipher did.

But no profit at no cost is not a loss, it all depends on the terms of the licence agreements, which we mere mortals are not privvy to.

Ya. Well, mongoose always to seem to be on good terms with their business partners (MM, Rebellion, WoTC,, etc)

A lot of those licenses are really one license, or free (D20, for example). It's more like:
Rebellion/2000AD stuff (Judge Dredd, Slaine)
Conan
Lone Wolf
Lankmar
Moorcock stuff (Elric, Hawkmoon, etc)
Paranoia

supposedly all the lonewolf stuff is available for download somewhere on the net for free. dunno how much mongoose has changed things but this cant be a good thing.

If it's the Mongoose stuff that's available, do slip a note to Matt at Mongoose adn let him know where it is. Bootleg stuff is more likely to kill off a company than the licenses. :(

depend on what they are doing with lonewolf, its all the original stuff for download and ok'd by the guy who wrote it.
I guess mongoose is making some changes? if they are then its fine, but if not then this could kill the liscense before it gets off the ground.
trying to get the link of the guy who told me about it so can forward it for matt and co to check out.

So d20 is free, and Moorcock stuff gets lumped into one. Cool.
I heard that fox wanted to charge mongose for three licenses when they considered AVP: Predator, Alien, and AVP.
Greedy Republicans.

yeah thats the one. project aon. is mongoose changing things significantly then in their versions?

The author is rewriting certain parts of the gamebooks, and Mongoose will add mini-adventures to each gamebooks. Of course, they will also add new artwork. So what Project Aon is offering is the original version that has been published back in the 80s and 90s while the Mong will offer a remake.

'The Mong', heh heh. Thats sounds dirty. If you are a mongoose gamers, then you've got, the 'Mong'.

"I'm sorry, Son, but... You have The Mong."

"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!"

"Yes. You can kiss your Friday nights goodbye. But, luckily, you're not alone... Gamers around the world also have it, and will help you through the life adjustment you'll have to make."

"Will I ever see the sun again?"

"Maybe one day... Maybe."

:P

I wish Mongoose would add one more license to the list:

Resident Evil

8)

I would fly to Swindon for a Mongoose Day if that happened! :D

Funny story that.

I just recently took a trip back home to Northern Ontario, and was walking around my old stomping grounds at the Mall, when I see the Umbrella Corporation Insignia!

I double-take, and it's got a Maple Leaf in the centre of it.

"Ombrello Securities" is now doing the Security Guard Detail at my local mall.

Which means my home is now secure from a Zombie Invasion...

Or will be the next outbreak. Luckily, I've trained all my family and friends on what to do in case of that very thing!

Odds are there is a facility underneath the mall about a mile below the earth. Your gonna be the guinea pigs that eventually get nuked.

Umbrella Corp. is everywhere! Maybe they should buy the Leafs.

"How are Zombies at Ice Hockey?"

"Well, they can't skate, can't handle a puck, but they can really take a hit!"

"Ya, too bad about all the penalties for brain eating."

"Bah, two minutes in the box. Big whoop."

"What about those Wingers?"

"Oh, they're not zombies, just Hosers. Bit dumber, but better with the sticks."
