Mongoose is making their own discord channel?

Is discord another type of anti-social media platform?
It's basically what the cool kids are using instead of IRC these days. Some companies [1] are using it instead of forums for support, which stinks because search engines can't index it.

[1] Emphatically not saying I think our gracious hosts intend to do that.

Discord is great for small groups to coordinate games and keep a running history or dialogue, while connecting for remote in game speech. I used it for Fantasy Grounds for over a year.
But its utility quickly breaks down when large numbers of people are involved. I find it all but impossible to locate relevant information from a few weeks or months ago without going post by post in those mega-groups. Imagine this forum without any titles separating like posts... just all jumbled together beyond a broad topic. That is Discord.

Yep. For running a game it may well be exactly what the doctor ordered. I just hate that it's turned into a place for people to ask "hey, which book has the rules for landing on a planet with more gravity than your M-drive can pull? [1]", because the answer won't be googlable.

[1] Solomani Front [2], p. 184.

[2] Hey cool, my autocorrect has learned the word 'Solomani'.

I was involved in 5e game that used Roll20 for maps, lore and logging and dice rolls, with Discord used for voice chat and supplemental maps and handouts. Worked like a charm. But yeah, my other discord channels (the Traveller discord for example) are chaotic messes and essentially useless.
