Modern Combat Cover

I just wanted to say that I love the cover of Modern Combat. Very nice indeed! It is much better than the original Battlefield Evolution book. What tank is that on the cover? Challenger 2?

An M1. But from the uniforms and tank paint job I'm not sure it's US unless it's early/mid 80s.

The uniforms are throwing me off. They look british to me. Well, it was 10 years ago when I was in the Army and I wasn't around tanks but storming beaches!

Anyways, it's a great picture for a cover. :wink:

It's a US M1A1 training in the Republic of Korea in 1989.

I emailed Matt as soon as I found it on the DoD site, so if they weren't they are now. (I'm sure they were.) It's an unclassified government photo so it should be open, I'm not sure of all the ins and outs, but I think that's how it works.

Most, if not all publicly released DOD photos are in the public domain.

Fom what I've heard, DoD is generally happy for its pictures to be used as long as a suitable credit (including the details of the photographer) are included in the publication.

Which is a pain in the behind if you have alot of photos, but don't write down the photographer's name. Seriously, the number of shutterbugs in the military is staggering...

Also, I don't think there are overly many desert yellow tanks around. The ones I've seen are mostly painted for woodland or winter :lol:
