Here is a mod challenge. Find/make ACTA mod for The Last Starfighter

and Robotech/Macross. Winner gets to have their mod used for my

groups summer campaign.

While awesome, the last starfighter was like 1 or 2 ships and fighters.

Now, Macross/Robotech would work well, you have lots of large star ships to choose from... although you would need some limiting factors, since every capital ship seems to carry a weapon capable of instantly destroying entire fleets.

Ohhh... I wanna watch the last starfighter now...
 
I have been considering a Gundam/Macross mod for ACTA, but the one problem I foresee is that fighter level craft are the main focus in these shows, whilst ACTA keeps fighters basic. I suppose it could be worth shifting focus though so that the mecha/fighters use the capital ship rules, and the fighter rules could be used to represent detachable weapons such as the DRAGOO system. This would however mean that the show's capital ships would be beyond the scope of the game.

Macross is easily doable with ACTA. While most combat was focused on fighter craft, consider the stagering numbers of them that are lost in any given engagement. They are really there just to deal with other fighter craft. If you've ever seen Macross II, there is extensive ship to ship combat in that, and I could easily see the same being done with the original macross/robotech. Just have to take those reflex cannons out of the game, or make them very difficult to wield in ship to ship combat, something like taking 2 turns of no movement and no special actions to charge, then fire on the third.
