Miniatures for use with Conan

There was a thread on this earlier, thinking about which minis to use with this game. You can find that here.

Since then, I found a company, called I-Kore Ltd., which produces a line of Celtos miniatures that look like they might work well for use with Conan. Specifically, the "Gaels" range. I couldn't find a website for the company, but I found this mail order company that sells them and they have pics of each mini:

Edit: Okay, I found the company website. http://www.i-kore.com/index.html

The Celtos miniatures are fantastic! I will be using them when I start my game next week. Better get them while they last though, rumor has it they're going under! :? :? :?

Good tip! Especially because my FLGS does not carry this line. He has a lot of great minis, though, so I do buy almost all my stuff there. I always feel bad when I don't buy something there, however.

Also, take a look at Dixon's "Henry VIII and Flodden" line. They have some decent guys with polearms, greatswords and various stages of armor (quilted jacks, helmets, breastplates, half-plate, full plate) that work pretty well for Hyborians.

I know I was pretty low on polearm guys and once I saw how well bardiches, bills and pollaxes were going to work in the game, I started looking right away.

In the U.S. you can get them from War Web (Grandiosity):

http://www.warweb.com/miniatures/dixon/henry.html

I'll probably grab a few of those. Thanks.

Also, check out the link below. I've bought a lot of minis from these guys. And they have some excellent ships that could be used for seagoing stories. Check out the Viking longship... (They ain't cheap, though)

I like Reaper for most of my minis. I buy almost all my minis through http://www.discounthobby.com for the everyday low prices, fast service and friendly owner, J.D. Lauck. You can't help but like a guy who signs all his emails as "Your Pal".

Some of those Fenryll minis look good, too. :!:

Yes, but I think many of them require assembly, and I dislike supergluing my fingers together, which ALWAYS happens whenever I get any complicated "assembly required" minis.

Here's a list of minis from the discounthobby.com site that I wanna get for Conan: mostly Stygian, Shemite and Nordheimir look-alikes, which are in very short supply (or non-existent) in my 500+ figure collection.

895A NEFERU ( REA 2485 ) $2.63 $2.63
REA-2625 AKBETH HEROIC PHARAOH ( REA 2625 ) $2.63
3106A RED EMPEROR ( LAN 3004 ) $2.95 $2.95
827A FRANC JEAUNOIR ( REA 2482 ) $2.63 $2.63
REA-14023 SIGURD VIKING WARRIOR ( REA 14023 ) $3.19
541A BORIS THE BLACK ( REA 2463 ) $2.79 $2.79
REA-2688 JAATU JUNGLE WARRIOR ( REA 2688 ) $2.63
1886 ORLATH HOARBEARD ( REA 2333 ) $2.79 $2.79
REA-2616 TRAEG BARBARIAN ( REA 2616 ) $2.63 $2.63
REA-2701 THOR ( REA 2701 ) $3.99 $3.99
REA-2781 Bledsoe Evil Cleric ( REA 2781 )

I think I saw a set of 3 Fenryll minis called "Cimmerians"...

I love Grendel Resins (UK company best known for their location/object minis). Here are some especially appropriate for Conan! They ain't cheap, that's for sure, but I can vouch for their quality and durability. I've had most of mine about 15 years now, with no breaks, chips or defects.

Here is my absolute favorite figure of all time (photo doesn't do him justice). I just finished painting him as a Vanir warrior, adding a thin red beard line across his jawline to connect to his Van Dyke). Painted his armor a deep but dull metallic blue, with gold highlights, and leather abdomen/codpiece. Bright blood red banner (like his hair). This is my current Conan RPG character, Wulfrede of Vanaheim.

I actually use dice from collectable dice games for any miniatures-like representation that needs to be done: dice from Dragon Dice, Chaos Progenitus and Dicemaster. This probably makes me a bit of a heretic, but at least my "figures" are less susceptible to damage than yours are.

It's the best use I could think of for the extra dice that you get with collectable dice games. Dice aren't like cards. With collectable card games you can cheerfully throw away all of those annoying commons and uncommons that accumulate after a few months, but you can't just throw away dice can you? You have to find a good use for them, and that means gaming.

The plastic Lara Croft figures that came with the Tomb Raider CCG have also been pressed into service on more than one occasion, come to think of it.

Please! This is a family forum!

My group is going to use Confrontation miniatures as they are some of the best sculpted miniatures around.

You can find plenty from art's bargains at http://www.auctionworks.com/store/default.asp?sfid=1214
