Minbari in 2ed - Some help and opinions

Hello All,
In our local gaming club under 1st edition our resident Minbari player did a good job of winning many games with the fishes. Now in our new campaign he has lost every game without changing his fleet. True he has played a lot of smaller games where his usually fine Sharlins haven't been able to play but was wondering how other minbari players/oppenents found them under new rules? Main points that seem to come up are: -

1. Stealth - Seems to be a lot easier to take down, especially as fighters can shoot and reduce stealth before main ships start.

2. Damage - As stealth is easier to defeat the weaker hulls with average damage points don't stand up.

3. Beams - Used to rip through little ships but but with the blanket 4+ hit seems that the weapons aren't quite as 'killy' as they used to be.

As i don't use minbari myself i quite like that they aren't as scary as before but I wondered what everyone else made of them.

Cheers Folks

stealth might be easier to break but you would notice it went up on alot of the ships.
the 4+ to hit makes the minbari better than before versus hull 6 ships, especially their minibeams which are only worse off against hull 4 so shoot the big ships.
minbari do get advanced anti-fighter to try stop the enemy fighters.

as for another point on lowering stealth, your scout can completely get rid of the enemy scouts stealth allowing you to blow away what for most people is normally a fairly fragile ship (unless its an explorer).

minbari now have to use their speed at smaller games, most of their ships are agile and fast with great range on all guns. keep away, use your speed, agility and range.

also perhaps you could tell people at my club how you beat them as they dont seem able to beat my minbari :D

I will still stick by my opinion that the Minbari are not the top of the nasty fleets. Compared to the hordes of Demos or all those 2 for 1 patrol ships that Narn, Centauri and Early Earth can field, the Minbari are always hurting for good lower end ships; hence they tend to be a hard but not top fleet. Also, getting a ship to a 2+ on the stealth roll is VERY easy. Many opponents are scoring huge damage rolls on my ships with the multiple scouts, the fighters and the occasional e-mines.

This is not sour grapes. I think that against most other fleets, the Minbari are fine. I do well against Dilgar, League fleets (albeit, I have not played against the Gaim too often), Drak, and some Earth fleets. Overall, I just believe that there is some imbalance to the fleets and the Minbari are not the killers that some people believe.

I just latched on to your mention of "multiple scouts"

Wanted to make sure you were aware that you can not get multiple -1 to Stealth effects on a single stealthed ship with multiple scouts. You can only reduce stealth by 1 total with the scout trait.

I ran into that issue already and it's Very easy for me to take multiple scouts since my primary ship is a scout (ISA)...

Speaking about scouts, Does the Minbari scout allow you to re-roll the Mini-beams?

Because if you can not use it for Mini-Beams then it's a pretty limited trait to have.

yes you can reroll mini beams.
also dont forget its good for getting rid of enenmy scouts by lowering their stealth to 1.

Ah interesting. Didn't think you could get a re-roll for Mini-Beams, mm
