Minbari Campigan Fleet

Hey I am about to play in a campigan and this is the list I came up with

Sharkan

Neshatan

Tigara x 3

lesthah

Morshin

Tinashi x 2

Toratha x 4

total 10 points battle, how does it look? The plan is to blast them with the Sharkan and Neshatan from a distance until the tinashi's, toratha's, and tigaras + fighters can close with the enemy.

I would drop one of the war ships (probably the neshetan) for more raid/skirmish ships as your opponents will always take a -3 mod against minbari so the big ships wont see alot of action.

Yup, Tigara is also a harder ship to work, given the stealth mechanics. Teshlan and Ashinta both seem to out perform it.

Ripple

so replace the nesahtan for four Ashintas? then replace the 3 tigara for Taeslans? HOw does that sound, I might also change the sharkan to a sharlin just fr increased generality.

Campaigns are almost always in the Patrol to Raid range of battles. My first campaign, my Warlock never came out because we never rolled a combat that let me take it.

Dark Angel

Campaigns really ought to allow for more territory/strategic targets to be taken/lost the bigger the game. This would really give players a reason to fight large games. Otherwise it's all about winning lots of small games and keeping as many ships alive as possible.

yeah, i only got to use my victory twice.
one thing we did with our campaign otherwise it would have been never ending is once it got to turn 10 the war had escalated so there could be no more negative modifiers otherwise people were building more ships than they were losing.

What i've seen and found with the current campaign system is that with the modifiers you get lots and lots of small lvl games but very little large lvl games.

The only ppl wanting a high priority game are the ppl who are winning of course. :D

So if you have brought a war or high prioty calss ship you will hardly ever get to use it!

As Triggy mentioned a campaign should allow the use of more terriotry, but that is where a map campaign can be usfull (very unsuttle hint)!

Very top heavy. I'd definitely consider dropping a War slot. I'd change 2 of the Tigaras to a Teshlan and Ashinta (keep the third as it can support Totothas reasonably well as part of a hyperspace flank). They are also pretty handy for crushing Skirmish/Patrol ships.

Remember in addition to burning Stealth, Scouts can re-direct weapons. So you can re-direct Fighter and Ship Fusion Cannon, Molecular Disruptors and Antimatter Converters.

With your 2 Battle points saved by dropping the other War choice, I'd go for a second Leshath and Ashinta, and probably 2x Teshlan as these are likely to be your Raid level workhorses.

Ok revised list....

1 Tigara

2 Teshlan

1 Leshath

4 Ashintas

1 Sharlin

2 Shavantis

1 Morshin

4 torothas

how does that look, only 1 war lvl ship in that lst and every one has 5+ stealth or better.

yes it also becomes an issue with the new Space Station Rules - its bad enough to loose a High Priority target to a patrol level game but now you can loose a War level station as well without firing a shot..............

on topic the new list looks good :)

Note that each extra Leshath means you can redirect more firepower but you have less firepower to redirect. ;) And the Ashinta escort service becomes less significant if you're playing P&P upgraded rules, under which all Minbari ships get a sort of short range escort trait.

I'm not sure replacing the Tinashis with Shantavis is a good idea. True, the Shantavi has a beefier laser, but to get that laser it loses one turn, two speed, most of its secondary mini-beams and almost all its anti-fighter. It's a specialised sniper. Maybe take one, but keep at least one genuine Tinashi, a better all-rounder more capable of looking after itself without needing a nearby Ashinta to hold its hand. :)

Against EA or similar fleets the Ashinta is very powerful in low level games - stealth 5+, long range and TL guns (in all arcs) that ignore armur combined with high durability make it a formidable enemy.

The escort / AAF ability is iceing on the cake :)

Indeed, sturdy ships are good in campaigns, it is always cheaper to repair than replace and they collect XP.

I don't know, shavantis don't really lose any weapons they just replace one of them with a close up weapon which I have no problem with.

Also in a campaign save some xps as you can use them to get opponents to re-roll successful stealth checks. It bugs the crap out of the opponents. Being one of many on Kenny Boy's Boneheads in Campaigns I know how frustrating this can be after a successful stealth check he spends an xp to get me to re-roll :(
