MI vehicles

Mongoose
I have one question, will there ever be vehicles for the pathfinders or any of the MI? I saw one in the Pathfinder source book that looked sort of like the skinny craft. plus i've been thinking of making a model like the Warthog from Halo from scratch but would it be worth it? :?:

Wouldn't see why the MI would bother with a jeep etc... in normal combat as they've got jump jets and various flying stuff.
But no reason why it couldn't be mission specific or for some environmental reason.
And Warthogs are cool :)

In the RPG there is some kind of APC called 'Gecko' and several oder vehicles (even one artillery tank).
So I asume they will be available for the MI somewhere in the distant future.

A Mecha-LAMI would be really cool.

you got a point about the jump jets and wasps, but a jeep like vehicle would be able to use a derringer or six gun while wasps and caps couldn't normally use them.

ya i skimmed through the SST Rpg rule books at a local store once and wondered why the bugs could have a walking tank while the Mi couldn't have a light apc (no offense Mongoose publishing)

Marauders :) That's a driver and two gunners worth of control from a single pilot. Less risk to manpower. If it's for transport then jump jets or something much bigger.

The jet bikes are coming out though.

Originally, Mongoose was going to release the Gecko APC, the Pegasus hovercraft, and the Sprite skimmers but this was all before the pre-painted thing developed. Don't know what they are looking at now.

I think they're also trying to move a bit farther away from the animated series.

I see vehicles being used for LAMI, since they don't have jump jets and even they need some heavy weapons and mobility.

Wow been awhile since Ive seen this discussion

You are hilarious. You are comedy personified.

The lack of vehicle rules is a major detriment to the SST rules.

The recent Signs & Portents has official rules pickup technical for the rebel colony list, and there was an article on making a half-sized gecko in S&P as well. We had a discussion on it here. As for the real Gecko, it's huge (in-scale) and there are no official rules for it.

Questions like this wouldn't come up if there were actual rules the Gecko and APC. Model or not, gamers could scratchbuild them, and expand their game. As it stands now, the lack of vehicles is glaringly obvious.

How's so? Arachnids don't use vechiles. Mobile infantry doesn't use vechiles(why use vechiles when you have superior marauder suits around?).

Anyway as you can see from BFE you pretty much already have them in the SST rules. All you need is to stat them up...

There are Vehicle rules: Slingshot, TAC fighter, etc...

Why not just use those vehicles as a template for ground vehicles? You'd have to scale back the movement, but turning, speed, weapons, etc. It's already there. Just have them act with everything else instead of on the air phase.

I mean, really, there's not difference in how an airplane works compared to a car, it's just that cars have to deal with terrain, right?

With LAMI you can definately include vehicles, but with the initial game idea revolving around PAMI and eventually creating LAMI for those movie junkies (I was dissappointed to see them actually, beautiful sculpts but I hate the movie with every fiber of my soul) and exosuits for book fans (like myself, but the exo's don't fit with the book exo's) its easy to see why there currently arn't vehicles.

If you've ever watched the cgi (like me) you would have seen several instances in which vehicles are used by the MI. Here's a list of some i remember off hand: gecko apc, tank (near beginning of pluto campaign), dingy (sp?), hydora hover boat (I'm actually near completion of one of these :) scratchbuilt), uhhhm, I don't remember the rest.

Because using vehicles should be an integral part of any ruleset, and there are vehicles for the MI, like the Gecko?

I think Chris has a fantastic idea here. If you guys on the northside of town wanna develop these rules for our local play... I'm good with it!
