MI Tanks - the Mongoose Way. . .

Hi guys,

The debate rages about whether MI should have tanks or not, and neither side is giving way! Here is our current view;

The idea that the MI should be air mobile is most certainly correct, at least with Power Armour, Exosuit and Marauder Troopers - in many ways all three of these replace tanks any way, to one degree or another. So, no argument there.

The Light Armour guys are another matter, and it is at least conceivable that something like the proposed Gecko could be used. In terms of air mobility, it would be no different than a platoon (in that a Viking could carry either, with some adaptation), and it is not as if the Light Armour troopers have an excess of mobile strongpoints on the battlefield.

Only the idea that an alien race will come along in the future who use tanks above everything else is holding us back from this - that, and the fact the MI get a lot of 'goodies' already.

So, we'll see. Tanks are not going into the army lists just yet, for anyone.

Come on, at least an APC/IFV for the LAMI to tool around in!!!!

Oh well, better paint some more exosuits.

The artwork in the mobile infantry field manual book for the rpg had some sort of transporter that had a gun platform, basically making it a tank. I suppose such assets would be a boon to LAMI, since there speed, I find is a distince problem, defeating the mobile aspect of the mobile infantry.

a transport with a gun is not a tank...learn your definitions, kids 8)

also I vote for a game of russian roulette between all 3 parties to decide who actually won now

I don't recommend using tanks for Russian roulette, if anyone has any ideas...

YARGH! The cheeseyness of the pun hurts my brain!!!

How about we play russian roulette with plastic forks?

Thanks to BuShips, everybody loses

I will say this is good news in my book. Like Matt said, the MI have enough goodies at the moment. And remember, the LAMI are supposed to be like the Air Cav--massing precisely through aerial assault--only on a planetary scale. At least, that's the theory. Who knows what changes will come about thanks to Klendathu.

Regardless of the outcome for the MI, lemme say this: Bring on the Alien tank race!!!!

They will still be no match for my Dacon Hounds

Ah, you guys are just jealous that you didn't think of it first.

I'm quite happy waiting for armor for the humans. Until then, those that think they missed out on playing russian roulette can join the initial waves of K-9 units that made first contact with the canon Bugs on Klendathu. :P

I never saw the K9 squad being a useful or practical unit given the way the system is. Anyone ever use them or find them affective?

I tried deploying a neo dog with Scion Agent a couple of times and everytime it's ended in a plasma fuleled firey death. I do have a box of the M.I dog team unassembled but i plan to make use of the troopers but not dogs. I really like their cool alternate heads and want to make some conversions/unique poses with them.

Mk2's have laser beam heads :D Thats pretty cool.
But your right, the special ability they were given was pointless really (In fact the only time I personally would have gotten any use out of it, I forgot they had it and lost my Lt on the first turn as a result :( ).
However, give them an ability where they can detect camo tunnel entrances and keep the laserbeams and you have a kick ass unit!
Actually throw in two flamers and upgrade all of the MI's moritias to have lasers as well and you have a pretty good assasination squad too, line them up in a straight line and its a solid wall of death! :D
