MEA troops undercosted?

The MEA troops (first wave) should be higher cost IMO. In a game last night (300 pts each), the MEA wiped the floor with my marines through the use of their RPG's. They may not have armour, and they do die easily, having the option of up to 4 RPG's makes them real overkill.

We agreed afterwards that they should be more like 100pts.

Thoughts?

each box set is 95 points.

dont forget us maraines arnt space marines either.

also points ballance out more as the game value go up.

With USMC, don't sit back and let them blast you with RPGs. Instead, try to get forward into grenade launcher range where the 2" blast radius of the launcher will do serious damage to any massed MEA.

Also try to get double suppression on as many units as you can by readying the entire USMC squad and shooting. It's likely the MEA squads will be large so keeping your marine fireteams together is important.

Also use that tank. USMC is meant to be backed up by its tank despite the cost. It'll shrug off those RPGs.

Okay, add two troops takes you up to 95 pts per box. add 4 troopers and two more RPG's and you are totaling out at 155.
SO, how the F* are we suppose to run games against the other factions prior to the next release?
That really torks me off. Am I missing something. Cause it figures that I need to buy like 3 boxes just to equal a frakin tank.
POOR PLAnnING here!

No, just an unavoidable problem that meant either delaying all BF Evo releases, or just the Technicals. . .

Wave 2 is only a month away (makes a difference with pre-paints, eh? :)), and you will have Fedayeen and Technicals to eat your points up. . .

Welcome to horde armies...

Thats just the way things go. If you want to play a swarm army you just have to accept that your going to buy more figs. If you want to play a cheaper (in money terms) force, then play, Space Marines, or Elves, or USMC tank heavy etc etc.

IIRC, the MEA can have a max of 3 RPGs, not two - one with the squad, and up to two of the extra troopers.

Ah, but the thing is, you don't have to swarm with Arachnids, nor with the MEA. Unfortunately, the units that eat up points and are still effective in frontline combat are still some time away. So right now, the only option is to swarm, but that won't always be the case. If anything MEA players will always have a cheap frontline troop type they can use to soak up fire.

Thankfully I knew I was going to swarm from the beginning when I bought my Arachnid army. 80 warrior bugs and 6 hoppers is my army so far.

I think the thing with the MEA is patience at least until wave 2.

I think they are quite an appealing army to collect, in the respect that they are not tooled up with all the latest kit and technolgy etc.

I think they are gonna be more of a specialist army tactically, in the same way the eldar or the orks are in 40k...if that makes sense

I think from the perspective of a starter army for a newbie to tabletop wargaimng, your better off starting with the marines or the brits, but for a bit more of a tactical challenge then they are your...erm...men.

I'm seriously considering going with them at the moment.

talk nice to your friends and ask if you can use a type 99 as im sure in the time scale the chinies will have exsported a few to the middle east by then, or atleast the MEA would have a comparable version, maybe use a T-72 as standin for a Type-99.

thats what we did in our game last night.

Me and a mate are talking about using my MEA as Northern alliance troops fighting alongside my EFTF until i can field a decent sized army

Good ideas. Yeah, I can always grab a tank that we took over and are using against them. I like that idea. I will have 4 boxes total of MEA until the next wave. Should be good!
Had a chance to look at the models a little closer last night. Have to say that they are better than I could do. and only one had a problem, everything else was tip top.
GFP OUT

I played two BF:Evo games yesterday. Stay with me I have an on topic point. Not that on topic matters much on this forum, which I like, btw.

One was against the MEA Infantry being supported by a PLA T-99 vs. my (fantastic*) Brits. The MEA were outnumbered by points so they got to decide table edge, setup, first or second turn.

Anyway, it worked out OK but MEA forces certainly need the infantry. However, my infantry only needed to take an "armour save" once during the game. So I'm thinking it's really more game tactics that'll make the difference.

The MEA look good on the game table, btw. Second to the Brits. At least the one unit of MEA I've seen looks good from a distance as expected.

Note, that I personally don't like modern gaming. Battlefront:Evo has changed that.

yup, the difference isn't that big,,, ever tried collecting WW2 russians in 28 mm? or goblins!!!!!!
Ever tried to PAINT WW2 russians or goblins!!!! :P

*Before I wanted the PLA. After seeing the Brits and playing with them, well I'm sure to be playing that faction and drinking tea quite often now. 8)

Yes, I realize they're EFT...whatever it's called but for me, I field Brits. Now if you make French, then I'll buy those just to tweak Hiromoons nose!

Also good target practice for your Brits :P

One observation regarding the MEA; it simply "looks" better to have a tank on the table supporting the MEA. Otherwise it appears you are fighting in Iraq at first glance. Might cause a few improper comments if the game is precieved as "current events" but that may be specific to my location.
