Marking Squads

How are people marking the minis for their different squads and teams?

Making your own mark on the bottom would help tell who's mini is whose if it came up, but keeping track of teams and sqauds in close proximity is sometimes difficult for me.

I've got a little colored sticker on the bottom (to say they're mine). As far as making the squads different, the onlu thing I did was paint some stripes on the side of the corporal's base, to mark the commander. I hadn't thought much about making the squads themselves different.

I have little stripes on the back of my bases. The first designates squad, the second fire team, and NCOs get a third. I would take a photo, but I don't have them with me.

I paint the first letter of my name in a different color on the bottoms of each base, and paint the NCO bases silver, Sgts get Brass

color bands.
1 main color for the squad, another for the fire team
haven't had a problem designating leaders yet so there is no specific marking.

I was thinking in something simple:
Small stripes in the back of the base: 1, 2, 3 ... stripes, in a different color or not.

Will it work?

I also placed those colored 3/4" dots under my bases. Well, at least until I saw the labels that MGP placed on the wave 2 infantry models . I then took a permanent marker and wrote 'S1', 'S2' etc. for squads. As I didn't think I could keep the secret of who my squad leaders were, I placed my stripes on the front of the models. It seems I have compassion for those enemy snipers with bad eyesight . Mostly for leader markings I used a label maker and carefully cut very small adhesive lables for the base edges. You can see a corporal and sergeant below.

I like the label idea. I think I'll break out the labelmaker when I get home...

Gee, with your colored dots and mine, we better not play each other or we'll get confused :). BTW, on everyone but the Americans the chevrons point down.

They look great, think I will do something similar myself :)

For each "faction", I used a different color adhesive dot. Of couse, I stopped after wave 1, but just used the pen to mark them.

I use the Avery 3/4" white stickers. I downloaded the template for a
sheet of stickers and made up a bunch of stickers for my Wave 1 figures
to look like the Wave 2 stickers. I then printed them out on my inkjet.

Nice! You could then also add a Squad#/Team# if you wanted too. :)

Or just do the printing in different colours to signify different regiments (or squads)... The Royal Green Jackets, Red Coats, Black Watch e.t.c.

I go with a simple but effective system for my MEA.

I use Arabic numbers. Squad 1 has a Arabic 1 on the side of the bases of all models. The leader has a 1, but also has a crecent moon next to it.

Each squad has it's own number, squad 2, squad 3, ect. Fedayeen have two digit code, like 11, 12 ect. Simple and it looks good too.

Red Coats? Is this Butlins!?

The Royal Green Jackets are no more, part of The Rifles (which I'm saying my BFEvo troops are part of) and the Black Watch is part of the Royal Regiment of Scotland
