[LWMPG] What is the prevailing view of the combat rules?

I think the common sense option is that everyone gets a turn unless they've already been engaged because everyone gets to fight once. If a monster attacks you before your turn and badly hurts you then you shouldn't be forced to fight it again so it can beat you up some more.

This means that combatants with a higher combat skill get to chose who fights who, control the tactical situation of the struggle, and those with a lower CS have to just put up with whoever choses to pick on them because they're less aware or simply don't react in time.

I proceed with one roll for each PC per round. Enemies that outnumber get the bonus but you can only request impairment to a lone goal at a time except you are dual wielding.

So, question then...

If each PC gets one roll a round, how do you deal with ganging up and Engage Many Enemies? Do the other NPCs get attacks?

For example, LW attacks Giak #1. But Giak #2 and #3 haven't gone yet! When they close to engage LW, does LW roll? IF he does roll does LW do damage or only the Giaks?

Those additional enemies get attacks as normal and damage is calculated as normal.

The point is that if a PC has already made a roll in a round becuase they were attacked, the PC doesn't then get a seperate "action" to choose to attack someone else. Effectively, they were forced into that fight as their turn.

Actually the more I look at the text, the more I am convinced that my intepretation 3 is correct. It also matches what I would like to see :)

I agree. Option 3 all the way.

It's the way I ran it as it makes the most sense. Monsters do get a turn but only if not already engaged. Likewsie players assailed early in a turn don't get to go either because defending is acting and everyone only gets to act once a turn.

The player then picks a number from the Random Number Table for each enemy and turns to the Combat Results Table to determine the results.

Not sure I agree with this 'though. The player might only pick one number based on the highest CS he's facing (with +2 for each additional oponent) and then spread the damage as desired. I'd need to look at my old notes regarding this.
