I think that Locke Lamora (or Gentlemen Bastards) sequence of books would be a great setting for MRQ. So far there are "Lies of Locke Lamora" and "Red Sea Under Red Sky" (IIRC).
Very nice mostly low-fantasy setting with a touch of (seemingly) powerful mages. After reading only the first one, I don't know how powerful those mages really are, but you don't want to f*ck with them, unless you're really desperate.
