Mongoose
Well i looked and WOW, a nice read, still not read the ww2 battle report, all looks good at the moment, lots of work done, i guess not making miniatures, mongoose have worked hard on the rules...

Modern : british army, looks nice, chinook carries 55 men..!!!

Seen some of the changes with the tanks etc, all looks great....

"Nice to see some rules ideas i had creep in there too "

WW2 - again a nice write up, and i know i`m going to build on my 20mm for this big battle game, question is metal or plastic for the infantry...?

I myself look forward to the rules in april ( at salute ? ) and will be buying a lot of modern and ww2 units as well..

"Well done mongoose" for this treat today, unless its a april fool !!!!
i think not, so i think i will not build and play flames of war, but its Evolution all the way....

I'm quite impressed with a lot of the stuff in the British army lists. I was hoping for a few more bits and pieces - Tornadoes and Starstreak FV-432s and the like, but what's there is very nice.

Also, stats for the Maus are always amusing...

Yup the Maus is FUN. 8) A totally silly design and as the Z-Plan for the Kriegsmarine a sure indicator of the Nazis delusion of grandeur...

Matt had the model and was tinkering with some stats, and since I wrote up all units for WaW we agreed that I can also provide the rules for the Maus!

The vehicle is best use in a special scenario: maybe one Maus trying to escape an approaching Russian tank force...
You get the idea.

The vehicle is in no way meant to be used in regular games, the Königstiger is stretching the system already to the max...

This version of the army list is fairly old (as S&P gets prepared in advance), and there are all sorts of additions and tweaks. The Starstreak is indeed in there (stats as advised by someone who used to be part of a Starstreak unit). No Tornado as yet, but I think an Air Power supplement for both WaW and Modern Combat is pretty inevitable, given the number of models available. . .

Yeah, not an entirely serious article (though the Me-110 is quite useable). However, we are planning a battle report using the Maus. Something for later in the year. . .

You guys don't realise what you've done - a friend of mine has a number of Maus kits and toys that won't look out of place on the battlefield, and he'll use them!

Yeah, I spotted the Starstreak infantry in there, but as I understand it there's an FV-438 variant that uses Starstreak instead of Swingfire, and the idea of keeping AAA at least somewhat armoured -especially if it's going to be one of your 3 per platoon batallion choices and therefor ein very limited numbers.

I would have thought the Tornado would have been something of a shoe-in, given the slow upgrade to Typhoon, but it's not a big deal. the Typhoon's a fantastic craft - I'd just like some more variety :D

Stay calm, breath deeply and remember that for the 1500 pts the Maus costs you can field awhole army! :D

And since there is no valid armylist with only tanks you also have to agree on a very large game...

Well, I'm half kidding... He'll certainly try for a 2 or 3 maus in a big game type scenario, taking the barest minimum of other stuff :D

Perhaps we should have done the Lancaster with Grand Slam after all. . .

It looks good so far. I'm working my way through the battle report (I'm at work, so it's taking a while). Does Matt's promise of "on the shelves Mid-April" still apply? I saw the ad still says "coming in May". I need to go get that Me 262 I've been eyeing...

It is at print right _now_, and we are expecting it in the warehouse on a week Friday - so, yes, I am quite sure :)

I just printed out my copy of S&P this morning so I can't comment on the content yet however it's very pleasant to see so much Battlefield Evolution love! Looking forward to reading it all today. :D

OK, the questions begin on the British army list:

1: The entries for the Rifle section and SAS section both mention being able to mount the section in a Land Rover for +30 points. Given that a Landie can only carry 5 models, should that be an option to mount each fireteam in one for +30 points each? And if so, will you have to mount both fireteams or just one?

2: The land rover itself :D Is there a provision for models onboard firing out with their own weapons as the Land Rover is an open-topped vehicle, a la the Technicals in original Evo? (I'm thinking mounting a Starstreak team in an uparmoured Land Rover may be a good way to keep them manouvrable and somewhat safe). Also, from the wording of the weapons options, the Land Rover has the option of a GPMG, GMG or Javelin, and then the fixed forward mounted GPMG as well, rather than being able to take all four?

Probably more as I continue to dissect the list...

1. If I had to make an assumption, I'd say you'd need to buy one for each fireteam you wanted to mount (I don't think the SAS would take kindly to having to sit in each other's laps. Is that your gun poking me?!?) I'd say you don't have to buy two if you don't want, just let one team walk.

2. The list states that the landr-rover gets the "multi-fire" trait equal to the number of passengers it carries if transporting. I assume that reflects them shooting off the sides?

on 1: I assume it's the case, but it's not spelled out, so I figured I'd ask just in case.

on 2: You can see a few other units with Multifire between the British list and the WaW stats, and they tend to be armoured units with multiple weapons. I'm not sure if multifire only covers firing integral weapons, or if it lets additional passengers shoot as well from open-topped units.

Well, I was thinking of suggesting the stormer version of the starstreak, the mounted armoured one, however I had a look round the web and unless you scrathbuild, you won't find one. But your right the AV type should be in, but I think it can come later.

Airfix do a 1/72 scale Scorpion kit, so I was thinking of using it to do Strikers and other CVR(T) series. Ace do a Scimitar kit so depending on availibility I was going to get that or just convert more Scorpions.
