Light Armor Infantry upgrades (12/06/2007)

Am in the middle of testing both this and a campaign experience system using Gorlith and Klendathu campaigns, and after 4 battles it does seem to work, even though flamer squads tend to have glorious, if somewhat short career. Provided there's a medevac at hand that is, otherwise they're usually one-shot squads.
Guess as soon as some minor tweaks will be smoothered I'll even send it to S&P ^^

And do let know how Your idea works out.

Well, I'm currently tweaking and getting notes together.. but here's a little fluff!

SICON LAMI NCO
Handpicked by the SICON Agent to help lead the cadre, the NCO tends to be a little harder on his troops than normal. Preferring perfection, many a clumsy trooper has found themselves strung up for lashes.

SICON LAMI Squad
Chosen from either Veterans or promising recruits fresh from Boot, these men and women make up the main force of the Cadre. The Agent requires from them one thing, and one thing alone, absolute obedience. Each trooper undergoes a “in processing” (usually a Psychic SICON Agent giving various parts of the brain a nudge), gets assigned a new suit of M-1F3 Visigoth Armor, a brand new M-3 Tactical Helmet, and their Morita TW-203-A Assault Rifle.

M-1F3 Visigoth Armor: Like its cousin, the M-1F2 Raider Armor, the M-1F3 Visigoth Armor is designed to be produced in enough quanties to equip LAMI units across the universe, and provide them with a little extra capability (notably the slight damage resistance and strength enhancements). SICON hasn't ordered their issuance yet, as it's still undergoing testing (hint hint, wink wink).

M-3 Tactical Helmet: Improvements to the M-2A Tactical Helmet have necessitated a revision over the basic design. Now with new padding and built in communications year, any Trooper can be his own communications pack.

Diggin' it so far. 8)

How about load outs for the Sicon agent that may be a little different than normal?

Something like being able to use two moritas at a time? "Strength through Pych" or something like that? <- I need you to do this as I have a conversion in mind.

I'll get to that. I got an game tonight, so wish me luck.

To Do:

Stats for SST:TA weapons
Points balances and entries for SICON LAMI

And I guess if you get a SICON Tag-a-long, a model or two in a regular LAMI platoon can get one of those special doo-dads...

Update:

Lastnight's battle reinforced the point that LAMI need heavy weapons. While I was playing PAMI w/ 1 Exosuit backup (Klendathu Campaign), being able to spray whole areas down with fire, especially against Warrior bugs that have endless tide is helpful to the extreme.

Currently in case of LAMIs having a captain w/sense presence is a very good move - being able to dish out 104d6 Morita fire and 6d6 Morita Long fire in a single reaction sure helps against Warriors ^^
Although flamers/shredders would help a bit too...

Hiromoon, there is something that your SW-308 and TW-303-A lack, and that's bipods :D. That way, you can use the M249 SAW prone rules from BFE on them. Used normally (on the bounce) they would still have a defensive option if given the time to set up. They also can be outflanked by the Bugs (forward arc only), but then they'd just "get back up" and fire normally.

Why would the Assault Rifle need a Bi-pod, Bu? I can agree with the SW-308, but come on...

As a game device sure, just add a bipod to the 308, but in the real world I'd need a bipod just to hold up either of those giant weapons, lol It's funny how all of these huge weapons in sci-fi movies appear to be light weight plastic when held by the actors, that's because they are light-weight plastic, lol.

In your spec sheet above, this is based on SST v.1 right? I'm seeing a pattern develop in the SST Evo that seems to ignore rank values. :?

Ah but have you seen the muscles on those LAMI...
(Not as bad as the IG i'll admit (Hey I thought the SM were supposed to be the superhuman ones...))

I'm making this for V1 SST Rules for the moment. I'll move to Ev afterwards.

And yes, Captain Smirk, they have muscles.. thanks to their upgraded armor. (see

Heh. It's good to see I can get people interested in this again. I got the NCO don'ish, and the Agent's updated entry will get done here soon too.

You should makae a signs and portents article out of it. It seems very obvious you have done quite a deal of playtesting for it.

Playtesting? What's that? :D

I haven't actually play tested this. I'm making a base right now, based off the performance inthe movies / games, comparisons to current weapons, and a little common sense.

Oh! Oh! Don't forget the PRISM light-rifles from the second movie and the RTS computer game!! That's my 1 complaint about BF2142 - where are the frick'n laser beams!?
