Legend 14th Century campaign started

Hi
You will find here the first part of our Legend campaign, which continues a ongoing campaign from a different system.
http://chrisbrann.wordpress.com/europe-14th-century-rpg-campaign/the-misfits-chapter-3-the-finger-of-legend/

An easy intro for the players who haven't used this system before, a mix of players mainly in our 40 & 50's.
We should be playing this for the rest of the year.

Any fed back to help with it is welcomed.

We enjoyed the combat system worked well for my group.
See the campaign part for my chances to weapons, Combat styles etc.

Any feedback welcome.

is where you will find the latest part of the story

Have you considered looking at Deus Vult? My group and I started on that last year and we haven't looked back. It's like Umberto Eco's Name of the Rose met Call of Cthulhu and produced a world that starts out in the 12th Century (but we've played scenarios in the 9th Century), and it's been very interesting.

Hi Wayfinder

Have thought about that and others have mentioned it,I do not have the book though, but as I and some of the players like history we play in the 14thC because we all know a fair bit about it.

We alternate with Traveler now.
Thanks for the advice though.

Have you tried Merrie England? I like to think that it is a more well-rounded setting than Deus Vult, although it can be used with Deus Vult fairly easily.

Deus Vult certainly has a pretty narrow focus, if used as is. Personally, I am going to use 'them' as an occasional opponent/ally, depending on the situation. Plus the book has some excellent ideas for running cults, sorcerors, devils and witches, if that's your cup of tea. And some new spells etc. But not all medieval campaigns use magic, of course.

There was this old PC game called Darklands (I think) that was set in late medieval Germany and environs? Could have been 14th-15th century? Something like that would be cool to run, and the above mentioned bits about cults and witches certainly would fit this type of game. As I recall, half the fun in Darklands was fighting witch-cults and devil worshipers?

In the same vein, you could use the BRP campaing Val du Loup even if it's set in earlier period. And let's not forget Stupor Mundi either.

HI
Thanks for the feed back
Haven't got either of those as yet, happy to use my own knowledge but always looking out for scenarios and campaigns I can adapt.

Must say the players and I find this an easy system to use, once you get used to it. Plenty of space for making things up as you go as well as more than enough structure for my players at least one of which likes lots of rules to play with.

Encounters are so much more fun than D&D or other systems we have used as with CM's they can do neat things which bring out there type better.
SO Wolves trip and bleed; Boars impale and bash etc.

Looking forward to seeing how they manage to convince Landry to tell them where the finger is.

I've been doing the prep work to run a late 9th early 10th century game. I found your Catholic Church build to be inspired! I will be using something similar for my game. I particularly like the idea of getting divine magic from God, and common magic from saints - it fits the milieu perfectly!

Thank you
glad it was of help to you
My players like it as it makes magical/divine effects different and special.
