Hi everyone,
Sorry I'm late...
Just realised this was close to release a week ago.
I have read through the v3.2 document now 15 times.
A couple of issues you guys might be able to clear out for me. Most of them are "proof reading" stuff and not really a complaint about mechanics (I hope, but some times that depends on the answer you give ofcourse.) know this is a playtest document and probably not that closely monitored in a proof reading way, that's ok. I'm just worried that some of these issues might slip through the net and be printed in the final product and that would not be good.
Then again, I know I'm late... so if it's too late I apologize for wasting your time.
1. When a Skill have specializations, can you ever get more than 0 in the "main" skill ? The reason I'm asking is that sometimes it says "Melee 1" and sometimes "Melee (any) 1" in the skill table, and I'm wondering if there's really any difference between the two (Other examples exist, Gunnery, Engineering etc. sometimes it says "(any)" and sometimes not.
Reading through the two sections about skill specailizations available in one place it feels like I must pick a specialization, in the other it says I "may"... so what gives?
2. Some career's Mishap tables are referring to a "Medical Emergency Table" while others are referring to a "Injury Table". Is there a difference? There's now "Medical Emergency Table" in the document... so?
3. In the "Ranks & Skills Tables" all skill increases for ALL Careers are listed in the "Skill 1" format. The Exception here is Entertainer... for the Entertainer this Table is in the "Skill" fromat... meaning it's a +1 increase regardless of current skill rank. Is this intentional? (I have to ask since it deviates from the norm)
4. Despite your clear and brilliant explanation on how to read the skill formats on page 4, There is one case I have to ask about. the "Skill 2" format (or any other digit than 0 or 1) I understand it perfectly... but it never happens. So it's a little confusing having it there at all. The only instance I could find where something is increased to a set value like this is Soc 10 for Navy... but Soc is a Characteristic, not a skill... so...
5. Some Careers lists "Science" as a skill... (example: Entertainer) Since Science is not a skill in itself I'm guessing this means "Any Science" ? OR should you get skill rank 0 in ALL Science skills? Maybe it should even say "Any Science (any)" to include the specialization? (Depending on your answer to question 1)
