My players are on a boat heading to a city in the hopes of returning a kidnapped Karl back to his home and rule.
They are going to be assaulted by pirates--the leader of which is a werewolf (were form will be unleashed with a Major Wound). Pirates board the players ship, fighting ensues, etc.
If they lose the fight to the pirates, they will be automatically ransomed back to the Jarl of the Area and will lose all money and magic items accrued thus far (we've just started, so no one has anything that they can't afford to part with).
If that fight goes too easily, a few harpy's will appear from a near-by lair and drop rocks on the players/boat, potentially destroying ship and forcing the players to swim to shore for survival.
I think that should take up most of our 2.5 hour gaming session. Any ideas on how to make this encounter extra great!?!?
