Also, it seems a bit tight insistuing on 2500 throughout on this tournament, as some people may only have had their new fleets for a few weeks.bit of a change up in the future by sound of it. for B5 people were allowed to use current models, FA models, counters, even custom counters. not that I have any 2400 scale models but if people did wouldnt see a problem with them being at a tourney as lots of people dont have the cash to change over to what they generally already have.

Hmm. So it's a marketing thing. Makes sense. Does this only apply to those tournaments run directly by Mongoose themselves, or would it apply to tournaments supported by Mongoose and/or ADB with prize support as well?

I know that ADB tries to give some support to "sanctioned tournaments" for SFB. There are restrictions, I think there has to be a minimum number of players (16?), you have to let them know in advance and send a copy of the convention booklet with the announcement in it... ADB's generally pretty tournament-friendly, they will help you by announcing the tournament in their mags, on the BBS and facebook page... Once the ACTASF ball gets fully rolling, perhaps that's something for Mongoose and ADB to discuss, if/how they want to support tournaments at conventions and what criteria would apply..

The Tholians/ Orians tempt me ( I would go for Romulan but I want to go for something new ).

I think they are doable in a tournament because they have a medium ship they can take a few of them.
They aren't playable as the Orion's though with the ability to stick different weapons on to make them more versatile, so the lack of ships sizes can be mollified a bit by the ability to tailor ships for specific situations.
