Kickstarter Dredd

As you will all be aware, the new Judge Dredd movies hits the big screen next month, and Mongoose has been busy beavering away to give you the very best Mega-City One gaming during this time!

Part of this will be a Kickstarter programme starting in a few days, packed with all sorts of cool goodies! It is our fond hope that this effort will bring the Judge Dredd miniatures game to a wider audience and allow us to give the new Block War supplement a great launch with new miniatures appearing at a much faster rate than would otherwise be possible.

We will be releasing the link to this campaign very soon, and we would be immensely grateful if you could all pass it on to anyone you think may be interested. It is a fairly modest Kickstarter but if it proves popular, it is our hope you will quickly see an entire range of new models, from Pat Wagons to Exorcist Judges!

This is fantastic news :) If gaming Dredd ever has a chance to make it big, its right now.

Consider me signed up already. When does the Kickstarter begin?

:D

AAWWWW MANANNNNNN!!!

My wife is gonna kill me. I just spent a pretty penny on another miniatures kickstarter. I wish I would have known. I would have saved up for this instead.

I'll still do waht I can. COUNT me in.

There must be a saturation point to the miniatures related Kickstarter projects. My personal one certainly has been reached for the foreseeable future. All the same, I hope it works out for ya.

Well, we are not looking for millions - there will be plenty of low-priced rewards for pledges, and good ones at that! Either way, you won't miss out completely. The idea is to be able to bring a lot of releases forward rather than say 'now or never.' How much we are able to bring forward will be up to you chaps.

Just wait until you see Gary Morley's new Lawmaster and Walter the Wobot, not to mention the other cool things we have lined up :)

Will there be many of the current Dredd range included in various as part of the Kickstarter? Or will it all be new stuff?

There will be new stuff, indeed, and hopefully a lot of it, depending on how the Kickstarter goes!

I agree with tnjrp in that there there is a limited amount of cash the gaming community has to spend at any one time and we have already been sucked dry over the last couple of months. On the other hand, Kickstarter is perfect for companies like Mongoose to test the waters to see what the 'market' likes and it makes sense to time it with the new film.

Its a win-win situation for us, my only concern is what reference material will be used for things like the Patwagon, the lawmaster is wonderfully old school and in that vein can we beg of you that the other vehicles are similarly NOT influenced by the new film......

Looking forward to seeing what is on offer.

hmmm I dont know, I haven't seen what P-Wagons and such look like in the new film, but I suspect that you cant relly change that up too much. Even then it should still be pretty recognizable. It's a giant armored car for perps. Just my two cents.

Very prudent, considering the best so far (AFAIK) only made a little over 950.000 US$

More seriously, if you can manage to keep it a small project with relatively high pledge rewards then I'm sure it'll work. I just wouldn't bet on netting big money from the hard core miniature gaming crowd at this time, if you really wanted to make lots of filthy lucre then it pretty much has to come from new recruits electrified by the movie.

Sorry to ruin your info, the Reaper mini kickstarter went to 3.4 mil USD with a goal og 30k. That is the Second best on the site.

Of course reaper is also a Megacorp in the miniatures market so..... what is the ratio for mongoose?

Dredd was one of the things that fired my sci-fi imagination as a child in the same way Lord of the Rings did for fantasy - I've loved the work Mongoose have done so far with this range and I'll definitely support a kickstarter as much as my wallet will allow...

Frankly, we would be happy with two bob and a pickled egg :)

Seriously, all we are looking to do is get a few new releases out of the door a bit faster than we ordinarily would be able to, and this is an area where Kickstarter can help a game like Dredd a great deal. We also hope that, combined with the new film, the Kickstarter programme will help get the game more exposure with our friends in the US and other countries.

In the meantime, if you go to Eye on Mongoose (http://www.facebook.com/groups/195633123795147/), you will see a prototype of one of the new minis. If you have philosophical reasons for not going to Facebook (you know who you are :)), don't worry, we'll be making a bigger reveal in a few days!

I can probably give you a whole jar of pickled eggs if you want them Matt.

Interested in this, I really should play something other than spaceship games.

Then com on over!!

We can always use more people to playtest rules, invent new rules, and overall be the kind of perp that makes the Judges scowl! (in a good way mind you).

One more thing, with the attempt to market this way out more, will there be one more update to the rule book, or at least and errata sheet.

Little things like the difference between Judge Mix's Lawgiver and the equipment lawgiver.
the Psi talents at the end that still go off the old system needing will +4, +8,+12.
My question about armor? Do you get a save if you end up with none?
Also a final clarifiaction on what happens when you dont have the creds to pay mercs.

Sorry to bring it up in this topic, just thinking about making the best impression to the possible wave of new fans.

P.s. Thak you for the addition of dates on the Upcomiing releases page. Now I can save up the money... after the kickstarter of course.

Well, kudos on them for scoring really big! Still, if the next best was indeed below a mill then it is indeed a little overinflated to look for millions on a miniatures project via KS. Heck, even if there are two or three over a mill already it's still somewhat overinflated.

First, sorry if I came off with attitude.
Now looking at it that way, you're right. Kickstarter doesnt ussualy bring in hand over fist thousands.
So I guess all we can do is support MP the best we can I guess.

Still cant wait.

Just to let you know, it looks like morning (UK time) Thursday 13th is when this will all begin - will confirm this over the next few days, plus give you a taster of what is planned!

Sounds cool,

I'm incredibly new to Mongoose and the dredd game (literally discovered you guys last week) but im really excited to play this game and collect these minis
