KC9R Dreadnought

Just got my Romulan reinforcements box, and for the most part they are great, the KC95 however... The detail is great, however, it is clear why resin was abandoned, and whilst it will be able to repair it/fill in the holes, it will take ages, and so I was wondering if people had any advice about it, and any news on why the Romulans and kilngons are stuck with resin dreadnoughts?

Its not just the C8/KC9R that is resin. It is ALL dreadnaughts and most likely all Battleships will be resin as well.

It is simply a matter of econmics. Both in raw material cost and shipping cost. If you want to pay say double the current price per model maybe Matt would consider a change to pewter but thats doubtful because, I will bet you dollars to donuts, most people will squel over a 40 to 50 USD model.

I have 2 Fed DNs, one in resin, one in metal. The metal one is prone to tipping, and it tends to angle itself unless you have a very tightly fitting ball and socket. The resin on tends to stay put.

That said, EVERY resin Fed ship I have is yellowing, and I am not seeing this with the metal ones. I cannot recall if I washed the resin ships in soapy water or not, but I did with the metal ones.

But yes, the prep time is inordinate for the resin minis. I'm talking 1.5-2 hours per mini. :|

Well PP seems to be doing okay with about 100£ models...As far as I know they sell pretty well.

Albeit they are bigger models but heck they are resin models rather than metal.

Maybe Mongoose gets their resin production up to standards in future.

My resin Kzinti DN was horrible too. I had to get a replacement and even that one had its flaws too but was more manageable.
