Just a big thank you to Mongoose...

Mongoose
I collected the original Dragon Warriors RPG books (£3.50 each when they first came out - I forget how much they were by the time 5 and 6 came out) and have several duplicates.

For quite a while I was trying to track down the authors for permission to publish the (long out of print) books on the net just so a wonderful RPG would not die and to save peoples' collectable books. Needless to say, with Mongoose picking up the license, this quest will be abandoned and I was overjoyed when I read in the Noble Dragon mail about the release of something I had hoped would happen again someday. I had even contacted the original publishers a while back to request a re-release at one stage.

Of course, I shall be buying this book ASAP, along with the upcoming Bestiary and I hope the original book 6's background will be republished at some point, assuming it's not in the main rulebook.

Just one question... what has and hasn't changed, if someone would be so kind?

Mongoose publishing is my favourite necromancer right now - Traveller... Lone Wolf... Judge Dredd (ok, it's disappeared again, but hey it was back for a while)... what other classic licenses will they resurrect? :)

First, Magnum Opus Press is the company with the licence and does most of the hard work on the book (http://www.magnumopuspress.com). Mongoose is just the printer and distributor.

Second, the rulebook contains the entirety of Book 6, except the adventure (which is in Sleeing Gods).

Third, as to changes, there is obviously a massive reorganisation that adds to the material considerably. Several sections in book 6 (scuh as backgrounds) were rarely used in my games but have now that they have been integrated with the text they will see loads more use.

Most of the text is identical to the old books but there have been changes for balance:

1. A new scenario written by one of Dave Morris' group is included.
2. All new artwork (which is fabulous).
3. There have been a few changes to the Professions:
- Mystics now have one spell "always on"
- Elementalists get to use their MPs for Raw Elemental Power. Some of their spells have been replaced.
- Assassins now choose which abilities to get and so are customisable from Ninjas to just plan thieves.
4. Several rules variants are included such as mooks, fate points, long term injuries, KOs etc
5. Two new comic book examples, so we get one for Combat, Magic Combat and Attribute Checks.
