Jumping Question.

I only recently started to learn and play Traveller, so I may have missed some rule in regards jumping.

As I understand it, a long jump is an Average difficulty using Athletics and either Str or Dex. The effect of the roll, is the number of meters covered.

So an average person, with Athletics 0 and average stats would need to roll a 9 or above to cover any distance what so ever, and a 2 to 8 would mean .... a failure to jump at all ??

It seems weird that more often than not an average person couldnt clear any distance what so ever. I was wondering if it would be better to reduce the difficulty to Easy .. that way with a +4 and an average roll a person would clear 2 to 3 meters.

Or did I miss something in regards jumping ? :)

Thank you for any help / advice.

Or maybe say that a marginal success on the roll means that you cover two or three metres, and the difference in the roll is how much more or less metres you cover. And an exception failure would be that you trip and fall.
