Ships have to come out of their own jump point and ships being hit by a jump point bomb should be allowed a crew quality check to avoid it. Problem solved.

I voted 2, but couldn't any of your ships on the table direct a jump point bomb, or do only scouts have the targeting, relaying gear needed to direct an attack of this nature. I suppose it could be the admiral ordering the attack, but the order is relayed through the fleet scout. (I think I may have answered my own question  )

I voted ban it! What the Dral fi did still stings my EA fleet, it's just not cricket!

I vote what's the big deal? They've always proven pretty ineffective to me, and they let the enemy know where your ships are going to be.

So what's the new rule going to be? Jump points can't be opened anywhere near an enemy fleet unless you have a scout handy and get lucky enough to roll a 6?

Ugh, just leave it alone.

I vote "Changes as in 2e preview: must have AJP, scout on table, CQ10 check" but I still say make it CQ13. That way EVERYONE needs a 6 to do it.

i dont usually get involved in the mechanics for this game but even i can spot a tactic that is open to abuse.

so i voted for #7, but would like to combine it with #2.

#6 would be too restrictive for gaming purposes i think.

if you really want to kill things, use beams... that`s why the Minbari have them.

i havent voted yet but there is one really important question i want to ask

Does anyone ACTUALLY (defintily etc) know if JPB will be as it is at the moment for 2e? what i mean is it definitly going to be like the way everyone is complaining about or is it going to change?
Shouldn't we wait to see it in 2e before demanding change??? we don't know for sure how it will be, it may have already been changed from what the 2e preview says!

Valen, the problem is that we will be stuck with whatever is written in 2e for at least a year. So if it is not right, it will be too late to change. That is why we are expressing our opinions on what it should be changed to, now.

And if we wait to see what it's like in 2e and nobody likes the rule, what then?

2 days after the new rules are officially released, a S&P article has to be drawn up fixing the problem a la the Armageddon Saggi?

No, definitely better that this debate/argument/hissy fit all happens now so that Mongoose know just how much of a backlash they'll be facing.

but to show theres a backlash it doesn't need to get personal, i'm sure Mongoose know its not popular, perhaps someone from 2e might like to say something, sure wouldn't hurt. at least give a rough idea of the plan for it, so there is time to change it, but at the minute everyones just sniping each other and generally moaning about a rule that is likely to be completly different in 2e.

Actually we're complaining because we don't like the current official proposal.

THe CQ9, Scout Present thing is the official word from Mongoose at the minute.
Many of us don't like this so are voicing our opinions which is one of the primary reasons for these message boards to exist.
Mongoose claim to listen to the fans with regards to game development, so let them listen now as we all decry these proposed new rules.

*edit for really bad typing which I'll blame on my keyboard*

As it currently stands, the plan for it in 2e is very similar to the one in the Hyperspace article in S&P Wargamer 43. The only difference is that the CQ in the current draft is 9.

At least one playtester is pushing for JP bombs to be disallowed. Several are pushing for it be put back to CQ10.

Some of the forum members an be over the top. But who listens to them anyway?
Alot is riding on 2E, it has to regain the ground/gamers that were lost on Arma.
Gamers want a top class product with no clangers (Arma Sagi etc).
Its a huge task, can Mongoose pull it off? :?
