Jump Gates

Do jump gates have any kind of stats some where?

An interesting point was raised last night while playing flee to the jump gate that if you could target the jump gate and blow it up would have a better result..

not that i know of, but blowing up the jump gate is not really a sporting tactic now is it :-)

If your opponent blows up the jump gate, I think you'd be within your rights to open a jump point from a ship and run through that!

Not particularly no but it would have been a near impossible thing to do since I only had 5 Raid points.

and in turn 3 he managed to activate it.

IIRC Jump gates are pretty tough, and firing on them is considered a war crime on account of how essential they are to interstellar commerce.

True but I dont think the drahk, psi corps, vorlons, shadows would give a damn

If they wish to move in hyperspace they do ;-) Especially drakh and psi-corps. No jump gates, no beacons, no hyperspace traveling.

if you have advanced jump gates you dont need jump engines in enemy terriory or beacons in enemy terriory :P

You still need the hyperspace beacons! Without them, you don't know where you are, and will end up lost in hyperspace. No ship that went fully off-beacon has ever been recovered. Even the mimbari need the beacons!

The shadows get around all this, though, as they use some unknown system of navagating hyperspace.

In other words they have a map lol

The Cortez was rescued after going off-beacon in A Distant Star, but it was the first time a ship had been rescued. And apparently ships in the Crusade era (or at least the victory class) have the tech to move off the Navigational Beacon.

Only Sheriden blew up a Jumpgate in season 3 to take out a Shadow ship at the markeb Gate , Drakh controled Centauri tryed to take out the B5 Jumpgate.

from what i recall, the Victory still uses the beacons, but it can travel a lot further off the known routes but still keep a lock. I think the Drakh were similar.

only if you have a Technomage ships Nav system hardwired into the other ships nav system.

In A Call to Arms, isn't there a scene where the Excalibur travels off the beacon? That's what I was thinking of rather than The Well of Forever

I know that destroying a jump gate is considered extreme naughtiness. But what would stop someone showing up in a big ship, harpooning a pylon, opening a jumppoint themselves, and taking off. I mean, they' are just floating there. Do it a couple of times, and you would have yourself a jumpgate. :D

For a nice description of a Jump Gate exploding try and read the Dilgar War Fan Fiction which was posted here before they took it off :D.
