Judge Uniforms

G'Day All

Just about ready to start painting my judges but am aa little confused :? . What colour's are a judges uniforms? Are they blue or black and what about the helmet I belive they are black but in the comic they seem blue as well or is thhe blue for shading and highlights. Any help would be much welcome.

up to you really.... in the comic, they were dark blue unless it was Ezquerra's artwork in which case they did actually appear black in colour, similarly, the shoulder pads and badge could be gold or yellow if you wanted...

the difference is really down to the limitation of producing black and gold in printed comic format....

The old thread about painting judges uniforms has gone now sadly but if you use the following colours (Games Workshop for ease but can be replaced with most other companies with no problem) you cant go far wrong.

Helmet: Black
Helmet Trim: Blood Red
Visor:Chaos Black
Flash:Skull White
Uniform: Regal Blue/Ultramarine
Belt, Gloves, Kneepads, Boots: Goblin Green
Zip, Chain: Chainmail
Elbow, Shoulderpads, Badge: Golden Yellow
Belt Detail: Skull White, Blood Red, Ultramarine Blue

Dredds uniform is acutally black but like Supermans hair black is a colour that was at one time very difficult to print in comics and as such is more often than not depicted as a very dark blue.

If you paint the shoulder pads, eagle, badge and buckle in Golden Yellow then go over it once dried with Chestnut Brown ink then dry brush Golden Yellow/Skull White lightly over the top you will get some great results that match the comics rather than painting them in gold.
