Would it be a deckplan I would use for combats like boardings etc. If so then yes grids please. Oh and of a quality that can be printed to figure scale if a pdf. No low quality deck plan pdfs that end up fuzzy when you print them for use in a fight
Bigger ships that would be unlikely to involve fights, no grids. Or possibly just places like bridge, engineering, passenger areas as scaleable plans with grids. For those "guards to the bridge, we are being boarded" times. No need for a grid on 20,000 ton cargo holds
Not fussed about stick figures for plans, can do these for the side views if relevant I.E. Side view of 400 dtoner with little man, side view of 10,000 dtoner with the little 400 dtoner next to it etc.
Both versions would be fine, but if I had to make a choice, I would take
the one without the grid - it is much easier to add one (e.g. as an over-
lay) than to remove one.
Does the size of the ship (tonnage) make a difference on having a 1.5 grid or not?
