[JBE] How Do You Like Your Ships?

How important are floor plans to you?

  • Very Important! I won't buy a ship book without floor plans.

  • Somewhat Important. They'd be nice to have, but I will consider a book without floor plans.

Apparently Chthonian Stars for Traveller will have railguns for ships instead of lasers and rays. :o
Ah, I like that, railguns are also my setting's typical starship weapons. :D

Question:

How do you like your deck plans: With or with out 1.5 m gird?

Does the size of the ship (tonnage) make a difference on having a 1.5 grid or not?

If no grid, do you want a printed scale along with the deck plan? (either a scale or a human figure to scale)

Would it be a deckplan I would use for combats like boardings etc. If so then yes grids please. Oh and of a quality that can be printed to figure scale if a pdf. No low quality deck plan pdfs that end up fuzzy when you print them for use in a fight :D

Bigger ships that would be unlikely to involve fights, no grids. Or possibly just places like bridge, engineering, passenger areas as scaleable plans with grids. For those "guards to the bridge, we are being boarded" times. No need for a grid on 20,000 ton cargo holds :D

Not fussed about stick figures for plans, can do these for the side views if relevant I.E. Side view of 400 dtoner with little man, side view of 10,000 dtoner with the little 400 dtoner next to it etc.

Both versions would be fine, but if I had to make a choice, I would take
the one without the grid - it is much easier to add one (e.g. as an over-
lay) than to remove one.

In my case, not really, because my settings do not have those very big
ships where a grid confuses more than it helps.

I would prefer a scale, or more precisely a bar of 1 m or 1.5 m length in
the ship's scale.
