So another day, another Hiffano anti-EA whine. Good to see he can keep up the steady rate going on...Somebody might think he would get bored of it otherwise

You know, I actually buy EA and I still get complained at. Can't win.
Nextup, I'm buying some dilgar, that will of course automatically mean I demand an armageddon ship for them I suspect

Don't feel too bad. I've been considering purchasing an EA fleet to paint, Centauri too for that matter. I buy most of my fleets because I like the way they look. I actually started playing the Minbari before I ever watched the show.

I too have an EA fleet (complete with damaged nike...but that's my fault), and the reason is pretty much the same...a few iconic ships I love, and the fact that the other fleets are stagnant while EA constantly changes.

why do people hate the EA fleets so much? In my opinion the crusade era is a good thing because it gives them a better chance of victory against some of the other races. Early Ea are just fodder for all the other fleets.i

You obviously have never played against, or with an early fleet then!

They have awesome low PL ships, like the Artemis and the sublime Sagg. Not forgetting the Olympus, gunship from hell!

so why do the minbari go tear them to pieces so easily? In the series the mibari only lost ships when they didnt expect an attack or when EA ships went on suicide missions

You are comparing the TV series, with a TTG. The TTG needs some sort of balance, otherwise the Minbari would dominate the game.

I have to admit to going over to the dark side as well. But that mostly due to fighter swarms 3rd Age can put out, as opposed liking the ships themselves.

Your going on the background fluff Valen, the Early EA fleet is probably the most powerful of the three EA lists in actual game terms. If you put aside the PL system then the EA ships DO get more powerful as you go on in time, theres no arguing that, but if you factor in the PLs of the ships the fact is that you can build a nastier 5pt raid early EA fleet than Crusade.

Example. The Apollo is clearly a better missile ship than the Saggitarius, but you get 4 Saggis for the price of an Apollo in a raid level game.

Likewise the Chronos is clearly a better ship than the Olypmus but you get 2 Olympus for the price. The Marathon (and Omega for that matter) ARE better than the Orestes but then most of the time an Early EA force wont field the bigger ships, instead favouring groups of smaller ships (and unfortunately ACTA tends to favour groups of smaller ships over big dreadnoughts due to the way initiative and crits work, hopefully this may be adressed in futurue but for now swarms will usually have the edge)
