ISO: Canon Imperial NGO's from the CT era

There are a few more research vessels. one from Imagine mag, one from white dwarf, and the explored survey vessel from FASA adventure ships vol 1 or 2. But they are generally similar to the lab ship, some have moderate armament. Biggest one is 800tns. Liam I will send the stats across if you need them.

Agree about the safari ship. How are animal and plant collectors uspposed to get their samples back to the university.

FASA adventure class ships has got a medical ship as well.

Cheers
Richard

No need Richard!

I spoiled myself and purchased the CT-FASA downloads from DTRPG last month. :D 8) I note as well there in Adventure Ships 2 the following:

For multiple uses, NGO or otherwise...

 The universal Eshpadir-Class orbital facility (J0/M0), amassing 500dtons. 5 Hard points of 1 xx3 BL, 4 xx3 Msl. They serve a the hub of many a long-term type of station to include:
:!: Refueling station (with additional tankage modules attached as per traffic requirements)
:!: Communications Station (Deep Space or part of an intra-system relay network)
:!: Research Station (Additional lab & quarters modules attached to size and scope of project, Scientific or Medical)
:!: Fighter Base (Hangar deck and launch tubes would need ed to be added, & quarters modules for mechanics of up to 15 x 10dton Fighters. Typical deployment is two squadrons (30 Ftrs) to most star systems.
:!: "Peace Monitor" (With additional missile storage added, this can become either a peace enforcement station, or part of an planetary interdiction web of such bases about a system)
:!: Civilian Transfer Station (Many a poorer world's orbital D & C-class orbital facilities are this vessel, with cargo hangar & refueling tankage modules to suit traffic requirements)
:!: Dry Dock (Many a space going military drydock for repairs to large Imperial warships has an Eshpadir vessel as its hub)

 The Kurgulash-class Medical Scout, designed for the IISS' Medical section for educational medical outreach missions for the Contact Branch. 400dtons, (J3/M2) armed with 1 xx2 BL, and 3 xx2 Sand casters. They serve as first-line medical vessels, backed up by larger Hospital vessels and stations. Follows the manta-ray hull form of the Safari-class only broader.

--definitely an experienced lot of medical trained Scouts aboard these ships!

 The Explorer-class Survey Cruiser (A variant of the C-class Merc Cruiser, found in frontier regions. 800dtons (J3/1G), armed with 8 xx2 BL's. Owned by larger research Institutions, or by companies that charter these vessels for such Institutions. LAb spaces aboard are customized for specific mission needs.)

--definitely an across-the border vessel with armament! Gotta say its a keeper for the NGO fleets 8) 8) 8) 8)

Nods, or say an archeological fossil specimen of a large beast discovered on a remote part of a world--the possibilities of the Safari-Ship as the poor university's Academic "Field-Trip" vessel are numerous, as well as it can wilderness refuel, and was built to land in remote areas.

Conversely, it can also be put to criminal use as a smuggler for the very same reasons...

Dear Liam,

It's wonderful you are looking at humanitartian NGOs. Perhaps you may wish to consider as well the possible futures of humanitarian organizations with a chivalric background, ie the Knights of Malta, Order of St. John / St. John Ambulance, etc, which could have obtained Imperial Patronage.

I'm glad that the discussion over a Traveller-era Red Cross / Crescent / Diamond organization has been revived. In an earlier post I had proposed an "Imperial Red Sun" org, but someone commented that it sounded too much like a criminal cartel ! :-)

Cheers,

Gary

Mssr Gary,

Yes, though I shall not step on the toes of a future Mongoose Aliens: Solomani issued Book (which is in the line-up, just farther down the schedule than some might wish for. I shall not tell MgT what to print next <repeat to self>). The past thorny issues of what DGP allows & Mr Miller allows will not be revisited here.

As for the idea of *Red-Sun*, this symbol has been taken already. Supplement Library Data has that listed as the symbol for the Imperial Marines Flag (Starburst Red Sun), so it would behoove me as a writer for the game to keep away from that, although Red-Star would have modernity issues with the former USSR in the minds of we who grew up in the modern Cold-War era.

Thus Red Diamond, as Herr Rust provided for me makes adequate-56th century cover! I have in TNE-1201 & 1248 published works for Traveller made past historical references to the 3GRC Church, and the warior Knightly Orders without specifically naming which ones were *revived* by the 2nd Imperium, only postulating their existence, and why they were part of "the Great Reforms of the Faith."

Pleasure to coincide with your thoughts sir!
