Is anyone working on the game?

Guess they could not reproduce the proper guns and managed to reverse engineer the light Ion cannons :?:

He keeps saying that. I guess I'll actually have to assemble my new Centauri and make him eat his words...

How about the G'Quan? Upping the beam to 6d would make the ship worthwhile.

Just take off lumbering they have way too many lumbering ships.

Lumbering actually makes sense. The popgun of a laser cannon is anothe rmatter. For some reason the designers got hooked on e-mines despite the fact you see G'Quans fire them in one scene to my knowledge. Every other time you see them fight, they are blasting away with the lasers. Yet the ACtA G'Quan has a mighty 4d in lasters.

Now's the time to fix that injustice while revisions are in the works.

Fix the Gaim, fix the Shadow fighter, fix the G'Quan.

And at an angle too - i.e. not boresighted! Keep the 4AD, switch to front arc.

Regards,

Dave

I'll leave that in your capable hands - grind them into the dust

Any reason why ? If its an update should not the priority be to sort out problems rather than make "sexy" new rules that could cause more problems?

:)

If the G'Quan was to get anything, it should get a Damage/Crew boost to reflect Narn ships being tougher than those of other races. Its firepower is already decent but with the others getting tougher ships this is one example that no longer quite "stands out".

If this is the case then good but it needs doing in a way that reduces crit's effectiveness otherwise the ship will be crit'd out of the game long before it is destroyed. The Narn fleet as a whole suffers from the fact that all those extra damage points don't add up to a hill of beans in a crit heavy environment as a recent battle with the Centari proved.

Combine this with the G'Quan's Lumbering and Boresight traits and the ship is severely handicapped to the point of becoming nothing more than a dust magnet on a shelf.

Shame considering how nice it looks.

Yep - Triggy and others have mentioned that they are working on the official update book

Given that a lot of the issues people have been talking about weren't caught in the playtest of 2nd ed, is there a formal playtest program in place for the development of future books/editions, and if so, how do we participate?

well there are playtesters - but to be one I think you need to be invited (not really sure) - you could try emailing Mr Sprange but I would imagine he gets alot of emails

the forum is the only real way at present to feed back and discuss?

Superior but clearly uglier hence no pic of one on your avatar.

Busy day at work again??
re work on a break at present but not too bad!

ah well I like pics of attractive women more than ships :)

Seriously, I do consider the Q'Quan to be overly weak compared to other Battle level ships partially for the reasons you state. If it had 6 AD beam it would make it a bit more formidable and the G'lan (?) alot better - 6 AD BS beam and 2 AD F arc beam :)

It would be great if the update book made all these little tweeks - only take a page or two of notes - fun new rules sound good but are they going to cause more problems? Hopefully not :D Seems a bit bizare to spend time on these and not look at the Abbai?

Are the Skin Dancing rules actually going to be properly clarified (for isntance can you skindance a ship that has not moved and how does it work when it moves) - why is it presently just a way to ram ships with crippled White Stars.............

Merging Shadow Ships - interesting but I guess that brings up all sorts of fun things with the pinning and telepathic disruption?

*waves hand* "You don't want to consider the Psi Corp"

*waves hand* "You want the shadows to die"

Yeah I think it's a well known shortfall my point would be, there's no point just chucking extra damage & crew on it otherwise I can tell you exactly what the next batch of complaints will be.

I'm with you here, I'd much prefer to see the basics nailed than a raft of new tricks rolled out that haven't really be asked for. Shadow merging sounds good and characterful but....

Your pic reminds me of Kerrigan which reminds me, is Starcraft 2 actually out yet??

The Shadows look at the strange little human waving its limb about, sigh and hand it over to the Drakh for reducation. "Your Jedi Powers have no effect on us" We are not our ships........... :D

Especially since the Abbai got the shortest end of the 2e stick. Not sure why, since they were not broken or over the top in first edition.
