Ironclads

One of the few benefits of having a stopover at LAX that feels like its been going on for bloody ages (in fact probably the ONLY benefit) is that I've been able to work on the stats for European ironclads and other ships. I need to check the file for errors and even when I do I'm sure someone will pick up the ones I have missed. Anyway, I'm hoping to get them sorted for tomorrow so expect something around about bed-time, UK time (whatever that is right now - bloody jet lag!!).

Stats for Austrian (yes, they had a navy) Italian, Prussian, Danish, British and French ships.

South Americans (War of the Triple Alliance) next :D

EDIT - on the site now.

You're going to unleash the all-conquering navy of Francisco Solano Lopez on an unsuspecting gaming public?

You madman :D .

Brazilian and Paraguayan ships added

Ay, carramba! My brother is doing the battle of Tuyuti at Historicon this year (it's taken him something like five years to paint the armies); maybe I can interest him in trying Riachuelo next :) .

A slightly revised version just posted - some minor tweaks in determining critical hits and a few format changes. No vast increase in ship types this time although the British and French sections may be expanded shortly, and I'm probably going to add Chilean and Peruvean ships over the next few weeks

Just a cople of questions:

In your rules some ships are armed with "spar torpedo", and others have the "spar torpedo" caracteristic.
Is it the same?

I understand that it´s necessary to rig the spar torpedo before using it but, after rigging it, how does it affect the ship?

Thank you.

Yes, its the same. Just me being sloppy :)

They don't affect the ship at all. They were relatively small and light and didn't tend to affect the handling characteristics.

Thank You.
I must say that these rules are very good, at least for me. One of the most important things is that it´s not necessary to maintain a big log for each ship.
The lists are really complete.
Great job.

Thanks for your kind words, and the messages of support and encouragement that I've received offlist.

We (19 & One gaming club)are running a game at Gencon using your Ironclad rules .
I really like them ,they get the feeling of what I want for IC's without being too cumbersome.
The scenario is based upon the supposition that the French did actively (militarily)support the Confeds.
This scenario is the attempt by the French/Rebels to take back New Orleans in 1863.

The confederate Mississippi River fleet is makeing an excursion and attempting to escort the French Troop transports into Gulfport from where they and a sizeable CSA force hill march on New Orleans (this is the 15mm Fire & Fury game at the convention)
Please bear in mind that the war has gone better for the rebels in the west .
Anyway back onto topic -the CSA have the following
IC-Manassas, Arkansas,Muscogee
side wheelrams-Caroline
sidewheel gunboats- Calhoun,
small gunboat-Cromwell,Staines, Georgia
The Union blockading force has the following
IC: New Ironsides
Monitor: Squando,Onondaga
Sidewheel gunboats: Eutaw,Iosco
Armed Ferry : Commodore Perry

and the French :
Armoured Corvette :Montcalm
Steam gunboat: Bouvet
along with 4 transports

The Union force is between the others and has a chance to engage the 2 forces in turn rather than at the same time .
Anyway it should be fun.
I will post photo's etc on our club's yahoo site after the convention.

Excellent - god to hear of them being used in anger. Perhapos if they are popular MGP might consider publishing them :)

Could you post a link to your site when the report is up?
